Yep Mrs Walker - We are planning on serving our cake with the evening buffet - only because I have been to so many weddings when the cake has been left (and thrown away) - as we're thinking on having a sponge cake it won't keep and will therefore need to be eaten!

Although we do love the cupcakes idea, friends of ours did this last year and we all took a cupcake home, but think 150 cupcakes may be too much lol x

we have a traditional three tier with our evening reception, but we are not having food before the evening reception as getting married later, but the giant cupcakes sound lovely, hope your trial run one turns out well :) x

I have designed a 3 tier cake and the middle tier will be removed for the day reception, although we will cut the cake in the days time. The middle tier has 35 individual iced cakes to match the theme and after the wedding breakfast, will be moving to the lounge area for coffee and a cake (magician will be there too) anyway on the evening, the tier will be replaced with the normal tier and used as a sweet, there will be 3 different choices of flavours, also we have a sweet buffet too. Would be gutted if had to bring the cake home with us!

I'm having my cake on display until the evening as we are having a dessert with dinner so will do the 'cutting' when everyone is there and then it will get taken away and served up.

I'm off to decorate my giant cup cake and when I say giant it really is giant lol if it looks any good I will post a pic for opinions! I know I will get the truth from you girls :-) x

When I went my uncles wedding last year, his wife likes to make cupcakes (she want's to open a buisness doing them). She had made loads of them that she had put out with the buffet in the evening. They were very nice, and I think ven better knowing that she had done them.

We are using our cake as dessert so are having cake pops (worked out cheaper the cupcakes) for the favours but have catered for EVERYONE including the evening guests and those who cant make it :-)

we are also having the cake on display all day, but are cutting it and having it at the reception as our wedding breakfast comes with desert.

Surly not, was looking forward to seeing the pics. I've only very recently started baking, I made a christmas cake - which everyone said was great, well they would as there was a full bottle of brandy in it - and then last week I made a birthday cake for my daughter, everyone who tried it liked it, it was just sooo bloody stressful!

Mrs Walker to be we went to wookey hole not so long ago and it was brilliant :D I loved all the caves and there was a room where they had been maturing cheese for god knows how many years!

Ah Mrs Walker I was looking forward to seeing your cupcake too ha! On the other hand - think about time etc in making these yourself the day /or two before your wedding...be honest...could you REALLY be bothered? Ha!

Our evening buffet has 3 desserts included so we're going to ask if they could drop them and just offer the wedding cake (may save us a few dollars as well ;o) ) x

Ok, so giant cup cake number too is the oven, I followed a friends advice and she's awesome making cakes so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this one works, I'm dead excited to see the outcome lol I really just want to decorate it!! I will show everyone, whether its a flop or not hehe I promise!

Wookey Hole was AWESOME. I've had the best day, deffo what I needed after such a crap few weeks. Got to spend time with my h2b and my sister whos about to POP, her baby is due in 3 weeks but is measuring full term so we had fun acting up like kids before her own kid arrives, although crouching through caves was a bit of a mission for her. We played crazy golf which was just the funniest thing ever, I sucked, 6-7 shoots at each hole untill the very last hole, the hardest hole I got a HOLE IN ONE!! HAAAAAAAAAA

I'm a bit of a high at the moment so excuse my waffling lol

All your ideas sounds fantastic. I don't think it actually matters when its served, what you serve, or who you serve it too.. its your big day, the day you marry the love of yours life's, it'll be perfect

LoL I'm glad I make you laugh! I make myself laugh, although I'm not sure that's a good thing hahaa.. It's still in the oven but it's looking fab, so scared to open the door and it sink lol smells sooooooooooo good!!

I'm practising again, I have a double chocolate giant cupcake in the oven with white chocolate chips, I'm going to fill it with vanilla buttercream strawberry jam and marshmallows lol yummy!! xx

We're going to cut the cake at the end of the wedding breakfast but it'll be served in the evening now.. we're having chocolates and mints with coffee anyway. So I don't really need to make the cup cakes but I'm having fun doing it and eating it lol! xx
