    Hello all bride to be's

My fiance and I are trying to decide on our wedding breakfast, and have got a bit stuck. We are trying to keep our budget to a minimum, but we dont want our guests to feel it.

Our venue's theee course options come in at around £29 a head, however they do a 'hot buffet' for £12.95 a head. This includes options such as lasagne, chili, chicken supreme etc and a dessert. Initially the option allowed the a choice of two mains, but they have amended the menu next year.

The cost of this option is much better, but I'm worried the guests will feel aa though they are queueing for their school dinner!

Have any of you considered this option? What do you think?

we are having a hot buffet for our sit down, but the waiters will be coming to tables serving it, its just cheaper as the meals that are offered are cheaper to make in bulk xx

The hot buffet sounds really nice hon! We're having a bbq for our wedding reception as I didn't fancy a big 3 course sit down event and we've got 10 kids coming so thought at least they can play out in the gardens whilst we're serving the bbq etc, and they're more likely to eat it!

mummy2olivia's right as well, people are just happy to get a meal inside them! And having more choice is more fun than having to slog your way through 3 courses. Xx

We considered a buffet too and I was concerned about queueing for food, but they will wait on the top table and provide two serving stations for buffet so guests don't form a massive queue, just two shorter ones - and tables would be called up two at a time to reduce the standing around, so remember to ask your caterer about logistics if you're unsure x

We're having a hot fork & finger buffet for our wedding breakfast - we went for it as we're having a summer wedding and the choices available for the 3 course meal just seemed a bit heavy. The choices available for the fork buffet were really good - a mix of beef, ham and chicken, salmon, potatoes, salad, pasta and a few little finger food choices too, so it's a good mix. We want our wedding to be quite chilled out and informal, so it fits in with that. I'm not sure how we will go about serving it, but I guess we will obviously discuss this with the venue closer to the time :-) x

We were going to go for the buffet option and do it ourselves but thought it would be too much stress after deciding we would need to provide a buffet it the evening too. We are now proving canapés as a starter which caterers will serve these during the drinks reception, then they will serve a sit down meal. For dessert they are serving our wedding cake with tea/coffee. This only came to £13.50 a head (we are buying the canapés for approx £1 a head from M&S).
It's this cheap because the only food we are paying them to cook is the main course. You could consider something like this but the buffet will be fine as well. Don't worry about what people with think, buffets are becoming a lot more popular so they won't think you are being cheap, some might prefer it as you can give people more choice that way :)

Sounds fab to me hun, i'd love the fact that you've got a choice, unfortnately they don't do the buffet choice at our venue, because I think I would have gone for it (& just for the record I LOVE Chicken Supreme mmmmmm) x

I think you should definitely take the hot buffet option. My brother had it at his wedding and it was great because there was options, and you could get seconds. It was staggered really well and we didn't have to wait so long. As long as it's organised, the guests will like it. After all, everyone like to have a choice don't they?! xxx
