I am a sufferer of Generalised Anxiety Disorder, in other words I worry about anything and everything.
For that reason I have planned alot of the wedding way in advance. Venue, caterer and fees were booked and paid for long before the deadline, dress is practically done and there's only a few things to do with under 8 weeks to go.
I have had nightmares of every worse scenario happening on the wedding day, wearing the wrong dress, nobody turning up and the day just flopping. I've been very lucky to have supportive families, enough money and not having any hiccups but yet I still wake up early and get flutters when my anxious mind dreams up a disaster.
I want to be able to enjoy the run up the wedding and I'm worried I will be worrying throughout most of the wedding day instead of enjoying my day. What do you girls suggest?
PS I'm not anxious about the concept of marriage, I love my H2B to bits and know we'll live a long happy marriage, it's just the wedding day itself.

My bloke suffers badly with Panic Attacks, and Anxiety Attacks. He is dreading the speech, first dance and everything.
We use these herbal things called Kalms, there tablets which are good. Also a mouth spray which is in Boots, can't remember who by, in a little yellow box. worked wonders on my bloke.
You could also try using Aromatherapy leading up to the day, certain fragrances relax you, or hypnotherapy to help calm your nerves and train your brain to think positive perhaps?
If you speak to your doctor he/she might be able to suggest something :)

I've tried Rescue Remedies (which I think Lauren means about the spray) and it didn't work so I'll definitely give Kalms a go. The doctors know about my health and I'm on a waiting list for CBT but I may ask to go back on happy pills for the time being. Thanks for the advice :)

I would definitely ask to go back on the happy pills. I'm assuming since you've been on them before that you found a type that suited you? I'd get them ASAP, as you'll want your body to be over any side effects before the wedding day!
I'm also taking happy pills for anxiety, as well as OCD. I started them before my CBT, and am still taking them now a couple of years later. The pills made such a difference, and I'm not sure I would have been able to get as much out of the CBT as I did if I hadn't already been taking the happy pills - I just wouldn't have had enough mental energy in me to face it.
Would it help to write things down to get them off your mind? There's bound to be things that can only be done relatively last minute, but if you write a list of everything that's to be done, then you're not worrying so much about what you've forgotten, maybe?might help to relieve a little of the stress. Oh, and check out the "wedding nightmares" thread - everyone has woken up in a sweat about their wedding at some point, so at least it's not just you hun (btw - I'm not trying to trivialise your anxiety disorder by saying that - it can't be easy having constant worry xx)

Rennie, cbt is really good... I had it weekly for around three months. As I had ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety quite badly! Im not 100% back to normal but I am miles and miles better than what I was :)
