me & a friend went venue hunting today and just popped into a social club by the off chance and the room is perfect! its £250 and that includes the dj!! we can do our own catering aswell or get them to do the catering, the room holds 300 people (we only need 170) and the landlord was lovely, said we can have the room from 5pm instead of 7pm and we have the room till midnight there is no going back going to pay the deposit soon which is only £50 so happy!

Wow that sounds good. I would personally get them to do the catering as it saves you the hassle and they know what they are doing and how much to do etc. I think by the time you work out how much it would cost to buy all the food in they won't be much more expensive either.
