Well it is almost 2 months since our big day but I have been having wedding blues so havent felt that I could come on here and share all about our day however I am now getting on with things and feeling like my old self :)
Our day was so fantastic! I was up at 7 and had a brew and biscuits in bed with mum, dad and younger brother (like we do at Christmas with our stockings- a bit of a Hayhurst tradition), then I had my shower and off to the hair dressers I went for 8 am. I was in and out for 9.15, the heavens opened but luckily by brother arrived with a purple heart shaped brollie (the wedding theme) to chauffeur me home - he even had purple ribbons attached to his car (a fiat panda!). I then had my breakfast, we were ahead of schedule so I had a bit of relax time. I did my mums make up and she did mine. My dad went for the bridesmaids and my brother went to check the church and venue. BM arrived at 11 followed by the photographer at 11.20. I was receiving such nice messages on FB and texts from the grooms family all morning, it was lovely. 11.45 I was put into my dress and we started pictures. The sun was out! Mum left with the BM at 12.30 and I was left with my dad who is not emotional nor does he usually say "nice" things (if you get what I mean). He was so lovely, we were almost in tears. A few neighbours came around to see my dress and then off we went. The service was taken by my old primary school teacher who retrained as a vicar and lives at the other end of the country, he came specially. It was so lovely. Everything was amazing, the photographers, driver of the car, food at the venue. The magician was a fab person to have in between day and evening. It all ran like clockwork. Speeches made me cry. I gave a mini speech before dessert to present my new grandad in law with a birthday cake. His parents bought us a engraved cake knife. My mum had arranged for chocolate (cadbury purple) trees in the bar in the evening. We had balloon art for decorations which were fab too. I took my dress off and went for my first wee of the "wedding" part of the day at around 6.30pm after we had finally finished all the formal pics as me and hubby had some more after the wedding breakfast. It did not rain all day- the sun shone- glorious. We left at about 12 and let everyone carry on partying. We sat upstairs chatting for ages before having bath in the special bath and going to bed. Next day we had an amazing breakfast with our close family before heading off to a hotel in chester where we used to go when dating for the Sunday night before driving back to Sussex on the Monday. We flew to Dom Rep on the Tuesday and had a fantastic two weeks honeymoon out there- didnt rain until the morning we were leaving. Now we are back and I am in my promoted role at school, we are looking for a new rental property down here with the view to move back up north soon. My BM dad owns an island in the Maldives and as a wedding present has given us time at his resort so we have now booked to spend Easter 11 days out there :) and we are planning on going to Chester for our first anniversary and spending xmas 2015 in NYC. :) Then will come babies!!
Happy planning everyone - the day goes by in a blur - enjoy every moment! Keep smiling! The planning might be tough, you might have loads of problems but remember it is your day about you two. xx
