We are having a village hall because we are on a tight budget, we are skipping the whole "sit down meal" thing and just having a big buffet for everyone xxx
We're getting married at 5 and the reception is across the hall from the ceremony room. We're just going straight into the evening do with a potato pie supper

we're having a beach bbq in cyprus then a bbq buffet at a golf club when we return for everyone who couldnt make it x
CommentAuthorjennab123
we are having a bbq in the day, i like the idea of something intimate vixen xx
CommentAuthorP3nelope
I like the idea of a BBQ, some of the venues I looked at had a BBQ option but I didnt want to rely on the weather, my actual venue has no outside space anyway though so its a cheese pasty, a chicken dinner and some ice cream and biccys (or if you are posh a goats cheese tartlet, roast chicken with red wine jus and brandy snaps with icecream) and an evening buffet lol
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
I like the non-posh description better P3nelope :)
CommentAuthorP3nelope
Me too! :) That's what I've been telling people we are having (exept Grandma of course)
CommentAuthorPossum
We're having an evening thing at the venue, but no idea what to do at it! Certainly not a disco. Maybe a ceilidh. We were thinking a big quiz followed by games like giant jenga etc xx
CommentAuthorP3nelope
OH cool giant jenga! Loving that idea. :)
H2B has decided that as all tables are tables of 8 we are putting 4 of each of our families on each one, he is also going to do a "bonding session quiz thing" which he made for his army recruits and is a bit proud of.
CommentAuthorrainbow21
im trying to hire a function room in a pub (for free) then do a buffet- want to keep cost low as much as poss! x
CommentAuthorjennab123
whats in the bonding session quiz??xx
CommentAuthorMelly
We're all going to be camping and having a bbq. Just a party in a field really. xx
CommentAuthorMrs fairytale

CommentAuthorMrs Daltry

CommentAuthorP3nelope
I have no idea what his quiz is he is keeping it under wraps , I assume its just a normal quiz but with a bit of family trivia in it to help everyone get to know each other and encourage them to talk :)
CommentAuthormym72
We're going to be in Gretna with just close family (about 20 of us) so we're getting married at 2.45, we've booked a 3 course meal for all of us in the hotel/restaurant where we're staying for 5pm - and in the evening it's into the hotel bar for the rest of the night (no buffet or anything).
CommentAuthorerica the army wag
I love the idea of a no fuss night time do lol people go on and on bout your wedding day and the night but truthfully we probs wont get to have quality time together as we having the traditional thing till 1am, so really unless i leave early which i will want to as im thinking im gonna be shattard lol me and h2b wont have the romantic wedding night i long for !!!xx

I am getting married about 3 so I am only feeding people once. Ceremony and BBQ by caterers followed by a drinks and dancing only evening reception to keep the cost down.
CommentAuthorKaz133
I really like the sound of that.I want to scale down and keep it intimate to help the budget and maybee get the wedding brought forward. :)
CommentAuthorbobbysgirl
we haven't booked anything but the more i think about it the smaller i want it to be. just an intimate sit down meal a few more people in the evening so we can keep costs really low and then we can treat ourselves to a lovely honeymoon. in all my years i've never been out of europe so we are looking at thailand or mexico. now just have to decide if we take our daughter with us and spend 2 weeks with a crazy baby (she will be 2 1/2) or leave her with my mummy and daddy and miss her like crazy :S

hi ladies we are getting married at Dunfries in a castle and are have a small reception of 25 people at a manor house , with a sit down meal , then retire to the loung for games and kareoke and a buffet , I know its small compaired to others but id rather be married in fantastic surroundings with close famiy members and friends then spends loads on a grand reception and have people come that you dont talk to from one year to the next lol. With the type of venue were having it still cost alot , cant emagine what a big one would cost there . less is always more romantic ,xx
Aww your reception sounds lovely - so simple, I love it :-)
We're just having a buffet reception and DJ etc. Late afternoon ceremony and the reception venue is across the road from the registry office so after the photos head over there for a few drinks with our 50 ceremony guests and then another 100 coming for the buffet reception. x
CommentAuthortinkerbell

Having reception in my sisters garden with a marquee. Fork buffet in afternoon, then games on the lawn: Giant Jenga, twister, croquet (anything to keep kids and adults entertained really!). Then a hog roast and bands in the evening. I'm praying for good weather so that we can all mill about and relax in the sun for the afternoon.
we having just close family and friends at a private pub do with bit of food nice small cake and few drinks and disco... no to many people as want to spend time as husband and wife on first day with out having to think about other people to much

MrsD2B and Fruity_pops they sound like brilliant ideas!
Natalie88 ... are you getting people in to do your food or are you doing it yourself? Hope you don't mind me asking it's just that was the original idea we had but were not sure how to go about it x
CommentAuthorLaticschick Holland
our reception is at a cricket club, we are having a 3 course sit down meal for 54, then a buffet at night time for our evening guests x
