I have always wanted a horse and carriage on our wedding day but I think it would be a waste of money. I live less than 10 minutes walk to the church and the place h2b wants the reception is in the middle so about 5 mins away the cost of the horse and carriage is £350 I dont know what to do

It's not a waste of money if it's what you want!

I'm paying £570 for a rolls Royce for a similar journey to yours...but it's been my dream wedding car since I was about 5.

Think of the memories and the photos, they'll be priceless in years to come.

If it's what you've always wanted then do it...... 5minutes is a reasonable amount of time to have your dream horse and carriage. I think this is why I don't have a 'budget' as such. I'm not scrimping but I'm keeping costs down and if we want it we have it....
Like Leasa says, think of the memories and photos

I think if you want it then no matter how far then have it. I think it is better for a shorter distance to be honest. Hubby's cousin got married and then went about 8 miles or so on one. That's a bit too far.

I'm not sure if a longer journey in a horse and carriage would get uncomfortable so if you really want it then go for it. You'll get some lovely pictures too. Maybe try to get another quote just to be sure the one you have is value for money. X

It would look amazing. I would have like it, but I couldn't consider it for mine because from the house I was getting ready in there was no way to avoid the duel carriageway. I would have had to get ready in a hotel in the centre of Cardiff instead, and I wanted to get ready at the house that had been my home. Cars are expensive as well so it probably won't make that much difference.

I agree with glitterfairy, for a horse and carriage shorter journeys are better as they aren't exactly fast transport. Go for it if it's what you have always wanted.

it depends how much you want it, and if you can justify the expense. i wasnt bothered about transport, I walked from the hotel to the venue which was just up the road, the in laws were going on about 'making an entrance' and how that wouldnt be happening if i didnt have a car...i didnt care because everyone was already in the ceremony before I got there anyway?! Plus the evening was there as well, so to me it was a waste of time.

H2B turned up in a limo with the inlaws though, as they still wanted their entrance lol

Edit* he didn't want the transport either, they sprung it on him on the morning of the wedding so he had to change his plans of meeting his friends before the wedding to watch the football which annoyed him abit as he wanted to spend a bit of time with his buds before becoming a married man.

Get the horse and carriage! If you know you will regret it and it keeps playing on your mind now then you should just go for it. All transport quote are roughly that anyway if not more, whether its a fancy car or a horse :)

It so was lol! If that is what YOU want then you have it, anything anyone else has to say about it can pretty much go swing, just weigh up the costs and see if you can afford it, if you can, absolutely go for it :)

If it's your want have it, you can always ask them to go a bit of a longer way there and do a bit of a circle down the road around before coming back towards the reception venue so you and your new husband have a bit of breathing time together alone.

As the others have said, if it's something you really want and you can afford it then go for it, it wouldn't be a waste of money at all. I'm personally not bothered at all about transport so for me transport would feel like a waste of money, but there is something about a horse and carriage that makes it more 'special' so I can totally see why you really want one :) x
