    Hi All,
Stupidly excited me is off to see the local village hall as a potential venue for our reception - are there any other village hall receptions? Its either that or a marquee.

There is a bar area so just need to arrange a bar and caterer. we were thinking of having a marquee liner in it. I think we might look at a 3pm wedding an afternoon tea party with cakes and then a buffet or pig roast in the evening or our postman has a chip van which would be cool x

My mum had her reception at the village hall and it was perfect. Quite a modern hall so looked good and meant she had control voer the colour scheme as didnt have to match anything. The only points i would say to consider are bar, cateering, chairs, tables, etc as we had to literally do everything including hiring waitresses to wash up and yes it was lovely and lots of decorations and cheaper but hard work too as had to do alot of preperation xxx

I'm hiring our local sports pavilion and hopefully hiring a mobile bar as well. its a good way to do it cause not only is it budget friendly, you can decorate it the way you want :)

A mum at school has a catering company so im hoping she can help, there are tables and chairs there and my mum is fab on a sewing machiene so can make chair covers and i'll just buy reems of organza to make chair bows (only about 40 to the day).
Not that ive started planning already lol x

We're having our local sports and social club, which is exactally like our local village hall except for a larger grassed area fir all the kids, more parking and a bar.
Just an idea but if you had a hall you could always buy the wine and stuff when its on offer in the supermarkets or even get people to bring their own drink... think of the money you'll save on corkage lol x

Thats what mum did.... we had a country theme so plenty of bunting, gingham fabrics, hay balls outside the hall, hog roast, brewed elderflower champagne, country dancing, etc and it was good fun xxx

Can i have an invite lol? Sounds fab. We did this theme for our daughter's christening and made our own bunting out of floral sheets i got from car boots and charity shops. It would be more personal for you too as you can make it exactally what you want rather than having a hotel or something telling you 'oh these are the centerpieces we do' and ' this is how we do it' x

We quite chilled out and laid back and thats how we want our day. I like the idea of a marquee though with straw bales outside and benches and a bouncy castle. But it looks like the hall is cheaper and if it rains it would be better and wel still do inside like a marquee x

We are having the village hall to, only five doors up the road, we are going for the country feel with lots of bunting around the hall, we are having a hog roast and then a homemade buffett for the evening xx
