Hi all, we're having our reception in a village hall, it's a very laid back day with no evening do. Now do i
a) get a marquee liner
or
b) use loads of bunting instead to decorate?
thanks xx

Do you have a theme? I guess it's all up to you and how you wish it to look. Which do you think would be easier to decorate? How does your budget stretch to cover the extra liner?
CommentAuthorgeorgie
We could budget it in just means cutting back elsewhere a little. Our theme is the farm so was thinking picnic benches or tables with wooden chairs with the bunting as the liner might look a bit too formal for our do x difficult to know without seeing it up x

oooh if your going for a farm type theme bunting does fit in quite nicely but again like you say it is difficult to know without visuals... hmmm... then again with the liner wouldnt look to formal if you had bunting and more informal decorations surrounding it.
may have to see if i can g00gle it! x

Would the plain hall make it look more like a barn setting? I love the idea of picnic tables etc! :)
I always wanted my reception in a village hall!!! But, it's not to be :-(
I wanted bunting decorating the hall, picnic benches, picnic hampers, astro turf with fake flowers on the tables and little wellie boots as centre pieces!!!
Your reception sounds fun!!! :-)

I wanted a church hall for ours... But it caused too much agro between my mum and me because we're getting married in a cofe church and the hall was a Catholic Church hall so now were goin elsewhere.... I'd've done a country relaxed theme too x
Ill marry my hero

I'd say go without the marque linings personally and add more personal themed touches instead. Sound good though, looking forward to seeing what you come up with

do you have a picture of the hall. if its a nice room i wouldnt cover the walls and the cost would be pretty high, i think bunting would fit the theme better, maybe hang pom poms etc they look fab x x

oooh that sounds good!! actually if you can get a picci of the hall it might help decide what would look best. some halls are beautiful and the simplest decorations have the best effects. xx

Its quite a plain hall with windows down one side then a seperate room on the other which is where our food will be laid out. My other half wants us to put straw on the floor but i think that will take a lot of clearing up so might just do that in the enterance hall. We're going to put some of the lambs in the field behind and all the guests will be asked to bring a pair of wellies for a photo in the field x

U could always use old parachutes instead? But love the countryside theme bunting would work well bails of hay outside to sit on amazing :) have u thought about hesian table runners?
CommentAuthorgeorgie
I'm with you on the hessian runners i have bought the material to make them. Our napkin rings are hessian hearts filled with lavender and tied with brown string and then center pieces are wooden baskets with either fruit or straw and toy animals x Parachutes are a cool idea even if just on the ceiling then bunting and pom poms hanging x

The other thing i thought was white tulle coming from the center of the roof to the edges and then every few meters leave it to drop to the floor?x

sounds awsome =) love the parachute/pom pom combo that could look really soft giving a girly edge
CommentAuthorgeorgie
Just looked on the bay and cant find a white parachute but will keep looking xx
