Me and H2B were talking last night about our honeymoon and he was saying he would much rather stay in a villa with a private pool in Orlando, I however would rather stay in an all inclusive anywhere lol. I don't want to have to cook and clean whilst on holiday but H2b said if we stay in a hotel he won't be going in or around the pool cause he's quite shy and for some reason won't share a pool. I aren't sure what we are going to do :/ HELP! x

Have you worked out the prices of the two and explain to him that you wont be doing any cleaning or cooking while you are on your honeymoon and see what he says.

I love Villa holidays but I also love all inclusive holidays. I never did an all inclusive holidays until I met my H2B

I think it depends on where you go TBH.

If I go to places like Mexico, the Dominican Republic etc it works out cheaper to stay all inclusive, plus the standard of all inclusive hotels in those countries tends to be higher than that of B&Bs. Also, because the hotels are so huge, it doesn't feel like your'e on a resort eg in the DR this year we had a choice of 2 restaurants for breakfast and lunch, a choice of over a dozen a la cartes for dinner, numerous bars, a disco, casino, etc, plus room service; ie, there was so much choice you felt almost like you were in a town. The food was also a really high standard, as were drinks; and all that for just £1140 pp for 2 weeks! Some top resorts also have private terraces with private pools, which might suit your H2B.

But, if I go to places where there are lots of restaurants near-by ie in a town, I prefer to stay self-catered, as I love trying different restaurants, and I find that typically, if a resort is geared towards self-catered tourists, all inc accommodations aren't so great (I personally would never go all inc in Europe for example). I've just got back from Tossa de Mar in Spain, and a 3 course meal with drinks started at just £10. So, staying self-catered absolutely doesn't mean you have to cook; whenever I go SC I typically buy bread, cheese, fruit and pate for the apartment for breakfast and lunch, as it's quick and easy to prepare, and then eat dinner out every night. I think the flexibility, and also privacy, it can give you is great.

Basically, both are good for different reasons; but, as your H2B said he wouldn't use the pool if it was shared, if I were you I'd be leaning towards self-catered; just make sure you are within walking distance (or a cheap taxi ride) of shops, bars and restaurants so you can eat out easily.

A holiday home rental seems like a great idea for people with families, or a group of friends traveling together. In my mind at least they don't really suit a couple traveling on their honeymoon. Who wants to clean & cook on their honeymoon? I'd keep in mind that American estates are designed for people that drive and are oftentimes not very close to local amenities. I second Barbie's suggestion of making sure you're close to the shops.

I think we will end up in a villa, I'm going to want to be out in the sun all day and it just won't be fun if H2b wont come sit round the pool. He can just do the cooking and cleaning lol!

I'm not a travel agent lol; but I LOVE travel, and go away quite a lot. I also book holidays for friends and family :-) Quite sad really, but hey ho!

Tatty: if you go through a proper rental company or through a tour operator, cleaning should be minimal unless you're very OCD/going for a long trip. Realistically, it shouldn't get so dirty in 1-2 weeks that you'll need to clean lol (other than basics like washing up/washing towels), and some villas/apartments have maid service; might be worth looking into.

And as I said, make sure it's centrally located and easy to eat out :-)

They are both good for different reasons but I would be swayed for a villa if h2b won't use the pool otherwise x x

Oooh I like the sound of St Lucia lala. Might have to look into that just for a general holiday.

I would look at the price differences between the villa and all inclusives. Personally I would prefer the villa as not a fan of all inclusives but maybe make a list of pros and cons of each?

Each have many pros and cons and definitely worth making a list and seeing where your priorities lie....and more importantly price them up! xx
