    Hi

I have started to think that id like a videographer for the wedding after seeing a few clips. We have a photographer.

My OH wont even discuss it and says im not wasting the money when people can just record stuff on their phones.

Anyone else had one or having one? opinions welcome on what I should do!!

OH wasn't interested in having one - didn't see the point. But I've hired one anyway and I am paying for it myself.

The first time I got married we had our brothers do video of the whole day (my brother got my morning prep when my ex-s got his then we got 2 views of the ceremony) and although it was definitely "home video" quality, I would not have been without it.

So this time I'm getting in professionals!

Also I wanted us to write our own vows but OH is reluctant, so my plan is to record me speaking them to add to the end of the video as a surprise to OH.

**edited to add** It is definitely a luxury and one of the things I would suggest skipping if money is tight, but if you can afford it I think it helps bring your wedding photos to life almost. And our little girl will only be 2 when we get married so I think it'll be great to be able to show her when she's older.

i love that you booked it without telling him. what did he say when you told him, or does he still not know?!

OH could earn the money in a few days to pay for it, but he wont so i think im going to do the same as you and pay for it myself and book it. Just obviously dont want to annoy him but he wont even discuss it!

I never thought of that, we want kids after the wedding and itd be lovely to show them in the future! xx

My OH wasn't interested to start with as he was like the photographer will capture everything and people will have phones but then I explained to him the last thing I want to see is a wall of phones constantly in my face all day and a video can capture unseen moments that a photographer can miss.

It is a luxury but I have said there may even be moments we miss and would like to see again, my proposal was recorded by OH best man and I said to him imagine what it would be like if we didn't have this video and then he understood.

I think 1000 is about the national average for a full day from bridal prep to first dance with a couple of copies etc I have managed to get mine for 380

He doesn't know and won't until the big day! We're only having the ceremony and a bit of the drinks reception filmed (as we're not having a party party IYKWIM) and it's costing me £400 for about 2 hours so £1000 for all day would make sense.

Were having one and personally I see it as a must have and more important than the photos.

I want to be able to watch us saying our vows again and to hear the speeches. Seeing guests reactions and seeing and hearing the voices of loved ones years later. (last one is so precious after people have passed away)

We are paying £675 for all day - bridal prep till first dance. For that we get 2 videos. One highlight and one full video.

We didn't have one. I've heard so many people say definitely have one, you'll regret it if you don't... but I honestly don't regret it at all. Sure it would be lovely to watch the day back again but it's not a regret that we didn't do it. We both agreed that having photos was enough for us.

I didn't want bridal prep filmed as I will be stressing lol, don't need everyone to see that haha. I think if you get the first package down to 1000 that would be a fair price. xx

Done feel obliged to use him because they are married. Our photographer works closely with a videographer - they share stands at wedding fairs etc but we didn't go with him.

Alternatively if you found the same package for a cheaper price I would put it to them and see if they can match. If not go with the cheaper option.

Yea i will definitly see what i can do to get them to bring the price down. Fingers crossed.

Haha i want the bridal prep filmed as they bring 2 cameras so one of them films the guys getting ready, think itd be funny for us to look back and see how nervous we both were! But obviously they can skip that bit in the editied video so it seems like we were cool as cucumbers lol x

    Hey all

we are having videography, the pictures videos and memories and what is really important to me as I can look back, OH is really relaxed and doesn't mind.
We didn't want it to be awkward having someone in our space all day so we have opted to use Sh00t iT y0UR$3lf , you hire the camera equipment and film the day on 2 cameras yourselves so much more relaxed but you send it back and they edit it into a full wedding video for you. I have paid 1200 but have opted to pay extra to have all the footage recorded put onto a hard drive so even the bits that are edited out we can look through.

check them out though lovely company and their example videos online really sell it :)

I have found a photographer who implement small video clips into her photo coverage. This new genre is called fusion photography.
It's basically a slideshow with still photos and some short video clips in between.Really effective... I love it!
1st time I've heard about this concept. I like the fact that none of my guest will know about the video bits as the recording is done with her main photo camera.

We had a videographer and I have to say, it's the best money we spent. We have watched the video back so many times and it brought back all the memories of the ceremony which I totally forgotten as they had gone past in a blur. The pictures are great and I do love them but other than printing and hanging them around the house, I have done nothing else with them, whereas the video has been watched so much. The people who also couldn't make the day for various reasons have now watched and said they felt like they were there xx

We didn't have one and don't regret it at all. One of my friends filmed some random clips and made a rough little video but it was mostly my friends being happy and silly so in no way a "wedding video"
