I was so so upset last night but happy at the same time my chief bridesmaid has only gone and got herself pregant and the due date is a day before my wedding day. I feel a real bitch thinking i wish she hadnt gone and got herself pregant but am so upset that she will not be able to make the wedding, even if she give birth two weeks early - she wont be able to fly and getting the boat over will be to much for her. Very upset and slightly annoyed I brought her dress already.

Generally feeling very sorry for myself.

I'm sure shes upset about not making the wedding, but babies are wonderful things. Be happy for her.

Thats the thing with babies- they happen to their own agenda not yours!!

Just think- you may be able to toast the babies health on your wedding day!

awwww - thats really nice of her to do that! She obviously thinks a lot of you and Im sure it wasnt her intention to get pregnant when she did.. its a blessing, you never know, she may still be able to make it to the wedding so try not to worry and be a good friend and support her through the pregnancy! xxx

if she wont manage over i.e if she;s in labour on the same day etc .why dont you get her to write you a wee poem or story about u 2 growing up together nad have the best man or the groom read it out on the day and you can all toast to her and baba???

Yeah that is it - I am so happy but just a bit upset because she wont be there. If I could change the date I would - but the venue and church have been booked and a few deposit have been paid for now...

well - fully knowing she ws going to be bridesmaid at that time was a bit out of order to then go an plan a baby... i think, anyway.

don't feel like a * for thinking so, it was her choice to get pregnant when she had already accepted your proposal to be a bridesmaid. so really, it's quite unfair.

obviosuly some women need to have a baby while the still have a chance - some of us are not so lucky :-)

ask her to pay for the dress, so you can get your money back. she should no longer have that position in your wedding. so find someone else to do it, or ask her to compensate. if she's a good friend, she'll understand and pay up.

agree with above - send some flowers or a gift after the birth to let her know you're thinking of her and the new baby, not just thw wedding. you don't want to look bad just because she created a complicated situation.

anxiouss2012bride - think some of your comments a little out of order! Babies cant really be fully planned for, sometimes they take years before they happen. I know of people who have tried for years and you cant expect them to put all other plans on hold just in case they fall pregnant. A baby is far more of a big deal than being a bridesmaid for just one day! I would be really happy for her and certainly not ask her to pay for her dress!! She will have enough to pay for with a new baby, dresses can easily be sold on ebay or given to another person to wear on the day. She hasnt really created a complicated situation, shes just having a BABY! Yes, it doesnt fit in with the plans of the bride to be but its not the end of the world and should be something to be celebrated not seen as 'complicating the situation'.

Yeah - I would be really sad if my best friend could not come to my wedding but just one of those things you can't plan for! One thing you could do (assuming she's not in labour!) is to set up a skype connection so that way she could at least watch the service and you could say 'hi' to each other on your big day!

thanks so much for all your comments its nice to know i am normal. I know its just a day but i was there for her wedding in November 2010 so kind of thought it would be the same. Anyway at least we get to go shopping for maternity clothes and baby clothes xx

i know how you feel my bridesmaid has done this. so she'll now be heavily pregnant and cant come to the hen. She'll probably leave early and shes now not going to her partners sisters wedding as shes due a week before neither is her partner going to his sisters wedding. so happy for her but a little annoyed as she planned it and shes estatic she doesnt have to go to her partners sisters wedding lol and its making dressshopping a pain in the royal arse, but totally stoked for her. i have two so i understand how happy she is. Also my two best mates growing up have gotten pregnant and are both due within the week after the wedding so now cant come as live in london and essex. So gutted they cant come. So if laura drops out, ill be friendless on my wedding day :(

i agree babies are wonderful,i can see your point in being disappointed as you want her to be there for your special day but i agree with jane,my sister has been trying for ages to fall pregnant and no luck yet i have left it to last minute to order her dress just incase she did fall but she hasnt even if she did i would buy her a new dress who cares about the money lol just be happy for her and look forward to metting your god child xx
