I have had a few quotes from florists in my area yesterday I went to see a florist in my village, she was so horrible I think I interrupted her watching something on tv. I told her what I was looking for and she said how is she expected to give me a quote for next year when her prices are going to go up. I showed her a picture of the sorts of things I want and she started showing me other flowers some of which I liked as soon as I said oh they are nice I havnt seen those before she said you don't have a clue what you want, go away and come back when you have researched flowers more. I was really hurt other florists have been so helpful as I don't no flower names very well but she just acted like I was thick. Was not impressed.
Has anyone else had bad wedding shopping experiences? People been very unhelpful or uninterested? Xx

hey hunny, when i was researching where to get my bouquet from i went to a local shop and when i described what i wanted the florist told me that she thinks ''personally it would look awful'' not very good service.............
as it was my mum made my bouquet as a suprise and the mil bought button holes for the men n corsages for mil and my mum so it worked out well but all i can say hunny is dont let it get you down if they cant be bothered to show an interest then they dont deserve ur custom and its there loss! x x x

WOW I guess she's just not interested in getting your business! I had one florist argue with me over who should be on the top table! And then when I got her quote she was at the top price wise, and wanted 75% as a non-refundable deposit! Needless to say I threw her quote in the bin pdq!
The florist that I went with was really nice, and brought a flower book with her so that she could show me a picture of her suggestions, which was brilliant as I know nothing about flowers - and as I told them all I have no interest in flowers at all and am only having them because it's a wedding!

Yeah most of the florists I spoke to were upity and snobby. Thats why I went for wooden roses. I still want a fresh bouquet but havent booked a florist for that yet......

Yeah this florist seemed to think I should know all flower names and the exact arrangement I want but I thought that's what they were there for to help and guide me now just make the flowers up. I dont know anything about flowers either so a bit of guidance wouldn't of gone a miss xx

I told my florist that apart from the silk poppies I had I didn't mind what flowers as long as they were the right colour. He went off to where the flowers were and came back with various blooms in the colours I wanted and we chose from that. As I said to him, I'm an accountant, not a florist. I can't do his job and he can't do mine. He's the expert, that's why I went there. If I know about flowers I would probably do it myself.

that's horrible to treat you like that! We went with one stipulation, although I didn't know it at the time. Obviously I'd been looking in magazines so had seen lots of pretty nice flowers but no idea about them, then all of a sudden h2b announced 'other than us 2 actually getting married I really don't mind about anything else, but we have got to have white yorkshire roses' lol he had me and the florist in giggles. She was lovely though. Took all my ideas on board, showed me a few alternatives. When she gave me my written quote she did all the flowers I'd requested and then gave another quote with alternatives which looked virtually identical but cheaper! She saved us quite a bit and said the quote this year will stand for our wedding next November :) x

That is awful service. If I were you I'd send her a complaint letter and put in it that you will be warning other brides of her awful service. She's not worth your penny, and how sill to get annoyed at you for not knowing flower names! She is a florist, you are not! If this was me I would tell my mil2b and she would be down there telling her what for!

Ive been to a few local florists and to be honest there prices were far to high or they were horriable!
Ive actually gone with a women i saw in WIM who came second in there awards. Because shes from scotland and im in peterborough ivce only delt with her online but shes WONDERFUL! I booked her when i was getting married next year and she was great when i told her we had postponed to 2015 and has even said she will hold the prices for me :-)
I was unsure of a few things tho so she sent me LOADS of things to pick through and ive swapped and changed all sorts and still she has been wonderful as she knows flowers are a huge part of a wedding so needs to be thought of again and again to get just right for each bride. she has been really patient with me through out all my questions emails rants and worries and i cant recommend her enough

we went in making it clear that I didnt know what each flower was, I said I just wanted white and what would they suggest. I then went in and showed pictures of set ups etc and asked her if she still thinks these flowers would be suitable. They were lovelly with me and have told me that we will have a final appointment in april to finalise the details as she did say I was a tad early as I may change my mind but its a good idea to get a rough set of ideas together. If she was rude to you then I can only imagine how she puts the flowers together. you dont want that type of service and she obv doesnt want your custom x

We had a horrible experience with the first bridal shop i went to, when we walked in she looked us up and down and said 'i dont think we have anything in here to suit your budget as we dont stock lower end dresses' i presume its because im young (23) and look even younger ! i was soo angry !

Hi Zoe I went to one florist who told me my style was old fashioned and most brides wouldn't have that style anymore-really put me off to be honest. I know you're based in the North East so have you tried Funky flowers in houghton le spring? I went to here and knew what look I was going for but not flower names etc. she showed me loads of examples and also listed each item seperatly and gave me different options such as bridesmaid boquets of lillies or roses and told me to just decide 3 weeks before exactly what choices to go for depending on what my budget would allow. It's only £50 deposit as well. really recommend going to to visit her x

I phoned a florist i have known basically all my life but i spoke to her staff & when i described the cone bouquet holder i wanted i was very rudely told the the do NOT stock it anymore & under NO circumstances would they try & stock it so basically try else where (always had emphasis on no or not) But me being me i went into the shop when i knew the florist was working & told her about this service infront of the staff that had said this & she wasnt 1 bit impressed about it as she had 1 of the holders in stock!!! She also said that she would have tried to source it for any customers as she wants the business, just goes to show you though about some people xx
