How Flexible should we be expecting the venue to be?
We are planning a fairly specific reception with a fun and games theme we are neither of us particularly thrilled with the idea of dancing on our big day but the idea of playing games and having a laugh really appeals.
So do people think that venues will be able to cope with us doing something like this or do you think that they may make our lives a bit difficult?

The venue should listen to what YOU want, not dictate what you should have.

As long as they have space I cant see why they wouldn't let you have whatever you want

Depends on the venue I suppose - I've worked at venues with very valuable paintings on walls, chanderliers, irreplaceable original features etc so the thought of little Johnny boucing his balloons off the chanderlier or playing musical chairs with antique furniture might put some venues off - I suppose it all boils down to what you intend to 'play' and what can be damaged at the venue - The Manor House Venue might object but the local Village Hall might not.

Not dull at all - its your day, so go with what ever you want - who cares if its not "typical" wedding - its one people will remember!!! As per some of the other comments, it really does depend on the venue, but probably best to ask up front when you either call them or go to see the venue, no point getting your hopes up if they wont let you do what you want to do.
