I have been researching venues for 18 months now in Liverpool/Ormskirk area and I am seriously struggling. Church is in Ormskirk so I would rather the venue was not in Liverpool city centre as wedding is on a Saturday so would cause issues getting everyone from church to reception.
I have been to several venues with absolutely no luck. Found one venue in September 2010 and the manager said I could not book until January (i.e. now) however it has now come to light that the venue has been bought out and I have concern regarding whether it will cost a lot more or whether they will go bust - as many people do taking over a failing business.
I am therefore trying to find alternative venues urgently so that I have a plan B which could quickly become plan A because we are having trouble getting hold of the original venue. Any ideas are extremely welcome but I would note we have an average budget so the numerous stately homes in this area are off limits.

Have you thought about anywhere in Burscough or Southport? Must be lots of hotels in Southport with function rooms and a sea view!

Thanks Bridalmiss, I will start researching :) my H2B is from Kirkby, where we will be moving this year hopefully, but I am not local so it has been difficult thinking of places!

There's a hotel called the Prince of Wales in Southport, owned by Britannia - they do a wedding package that includes accomodation for the newlyweds etc - there's also a really nice looking hotel called the Vincent but it looks like it could also be a bit pricey! Worth asking though and you never know, you could make a deal :-)

I have been worrying so much because I find things online and then h2b or family say oooh no too far, no nice etc,etc. But this looks like our sort of thing - not ridiculously expensive but a bit of character!!

Yes, the Brittania group also own the Adelphi in Liverpool and friends who've married there said the wedding package was really good - fingers crossed for you!
