It sounds a bit odd but we wrote our guestlist before looking at venues. This meant we knew what size place we needed as we didn't want to fall in love with somewhere and then it be too small or massive. This may also help determine your budget as catering is often price per head so it can be important for any package deals. Then talk to your h2b and work out the type of wedding you would both like eg grand manor house, rustic barn or is outdoor space really important. This should help narrow down your choices. Good luck. X

We decided by writing down the top 3 things we wanted and then we went to fb and g00gle we looked at places also our reception venue we wanted something different and not somewhere expected, then we went to a wedding fare and the museum had a stand and we knew that's the place we wanted as every question we had or stuff we wanted they answered and did!

Get searching and check out everywhere lol

I did exactly the same thing as you Kirsty - we organised our guest list (well approx) and then worked form there in regards to what sort of size of venue we needed and then what their packages were in relation to food etc and then narrowed it down from there xx
