Ive just had an email from my venue telling me that although i will be the only bride on site there is chance that they can hire out one of the other rooms in the building as we aren’t “venue exclusive” we booked the venue 8 month ago and were told we had full use of the building and all rooms inside. And have had meetings since discussing what we want to happen in each room. They have told me i can pay and extra £600 to have the venue to ourselves. This has never been mentioned or offered on any of our previous meeting or contact. I cant help but feel they are being extortionate and changing the goal posts and no longer want my day to be held there. The venue is perfect but don't want to be ripped off. What are your thoughts? I just want to cry :(

I think you need to go back to your contract , if it say you have use of ALL rooms then that’s it ...if you have any emails stating the same then the venue don’t have a leg to stand on

Definitely check what your contract says. If the contract was for exclusive use then that is what they have to give you, for the price that you agreed. It sounds like they might be trying their luck to get a bit more money out of you. If there isn’t anything in the contract then legally there is nothing to stop them hiring out rooms to other couples, or asking more money for exclusive use, but you could put a lot of pressure on them. Ask to speak to the most senior people there, and suggest that you might have to mention this in any reviews. Maybe even hint that people have asked for recommendations but you’re not sure if you can give one. They won’t want to lose custom over this.
