    No, I haven't decided to divorce my wonderful husband and marry someone else, but I am helping my very good friend plan his wedding to his fantastic chap!
    My friend works on cruise ships so he isn't in the UK very often, so I'm giving him some help - I do, after all, have a bit of experience in planning a wedding LOL!

    They plan to marry in the Portsmouth area...wait for it...NEXT YEAR! They haven't done ANYTHING yet, so we're starting with a blank slate.

    So good people of UKBride, I need your help...do you know of any venues in the Portsmouth/Gosport/Fareham area that are licensed for same-sex marriages. My understanding is that some venues aren't, but I'd be very happy to be proved wrong!

    Sadly not - civil venues can choose who they wish to marry...I would hope that most will be more than happy to accommodate, though - I'm not sure I'd they need a seperate licence for civil partnerships, I don't think so but don't quote me on that xx

    We are a same-sex couple getting married at The Alverbank Hotel in Gosport. It's right on the sea front, it's lush!! Cams Hall is also very lovely too.

    Well by July next year, gay marriage will be performed anywhere that has a marriage licence so their venues shouldn't be too limited :) My girl and I are getting married in the same venue and we've been told that when the registrar turns up, we have a little meeting where they ask for the usual details and whether they are performing a civil partnership or a marriage which is down to the individual couple... Easy as winking! xx
