Arrrgh! I am so annoyed! A few weeks ago, I received an email from my venue (a hotel) inviting me to a wedding fayre the following day to chat with suppliers, get a glass of bubbly etc. I am getting married quite soon but thought y not, it cld give us some decoration inspiration! so, we drove the 35 minutes it takes to get to the hotel to find the message had been sent in error and no fayre was on, but an open day for NEW possible clients (so no bubbly and no inspiration) however, the room was set up to show these new clients, there was a cake on a fancy table set with draping and fairy lights. I asked the owner if we were having this and she said yes, and what colour of organza wld we like around it?
so... anyway, to cut a long story short!.. I have just received a bill for £80 for the cake table curtain!!!!!!!!!!! wth?!
I messaged the new manager, (the owner, who is also the wedding co-ordinator seems to be taking less and less to do with the weddings lately) and asked why i was being charged when i was told (on 2 seperate occasions) that it was included... his reply? that no, thats what it cost and he would have to investigate as no note was taken to say that this was authorised!!! so basically, its my word against theirs!!! I am simply not paying that for sum bloomin lights and a cloth!!! it is jst so disappointing me told something, then told something else :(
    xx

do you have your contract with the venue setting out what was included ,if you have it in writing they should be supplying it x

Never ever ask for extras after a contract has been signed as they can and will add these onto your bill. All services should be clarified between both parties before signing. You should have been fully aware of all decorations they were including therefore you would have known that these were not amongst them. Sorry but it seems they have thought you wanted them added to your pre existing package which they are in the right to charge extra for.

Sounds a bit iffy to me,think u should go through ur contract with a fine tooth comb again with them so u know what ur getting and what ur not....weird that they would say it and then go against it,not good customer service at all!

It isnt in the contract, but the owner had said we could have it then the manager said we could for no extra cost and now the manager is saying there is a charge! at the end of the day, it isnt that important, just annoying! apparently the owner should have put it in my notes but hasnt, but thats not my fault!!!!xx

i would either get someone to admit it and then get it written down or just leave it. but either way i would double check everything on your contract xxx

Nothing's protected unless its documented. It is possible that they may well change their minds over this if you ask them but they don't have to. Had these been in the original contract you would have every right to pursue it but if not then there's really nothing that you can do.

Dont let it bug you hun, like you say its just a cloth and some lights and they are not gonna get £80 out of you for that. In the bigger picture its not worth you getting yourself worked up over that in these last few weeks before the wedding. Guests really hardly notice all the extra little trimmings like draping - they will just be admiring your lovely cake anyway :) xx

thanks sazzell... i dont really get bugged by these small details, im sumtimes too relaxed about this wedding!!! I just hate the incontinuity and tbh, this is not the first problem i have encountered with the owner! she seems to be full of the talk and dsnt walk the walk!!! She keeps telling me the room is getting painted "next monday" "next thursday" etc and its still not been done! after xmas, the room is looking a bit drab and in desp need of a lick of paint and the day of the cake curatin (!!!!!) she told us that the painters were due to come in the next day and she was doing this and that, really going to town! well, we were in the other day to finalise numbers etc and guess what... the room still hasnt been painted!! i just dont appreciate bulls..... from her!

OMG I can understand why you are getting peed off then! I got so stressed in the final weeks before my wedding and it wasnt good. I was so emotionally drained and started getting skin allergies! After the wedding I suffered with anxiety for a few months because of how everything built up for me. I didnt realise I was so super stressed until I look back now.... So if I can give any advice I would say to shrug this off as best you can and know that after the wedding you can do an online review of the venue and get them back ;) xx
