What would you say the average price for venue hire is, including catering and drinks etc?

So far, for a Friday summer wedding my short listers are coming in around £8-£9k. Is that the going rate?

For 120 day, 180 eve, we are paying about £6500. Thats drinks (arrival, wine with meal, toast), 3 course meal, evening buffet, free room hire and some other freebies. For a Sat in August.

I know it sounds silly, but there really is no such thing as an average. Venue prices can vary from a couple of hundred pounds - or less - (for hiring one room in a hotel) to several thousand pounds if, for example, you wanted exclusive use of a huge grand venue.

Same with food - a 3 course sit down dinner could cost you £60-£70 per person, but I've heard of people getting if for about £5 per person, and sometimes cheaper.

The decision rests with a) what your budget is and b) what you're prepared to spend money on, and what you're not!

I'm getting all the bits seperate.

    The venue hire is £700
    Registrar is £390 :'(
We've found caterers for about £20pp = £1600 (but might end up catering ourselves or doing something cheaper)
buying wine for the meal for about £150
Disco quotes are looking at around £300 for one that doesnt look too tacky
Table Decorations/Favours £150 (candy buffet idea I LOVE IT!)
    Bar for after meal £120

=£3410 for 80 guests in August on a Saturday

I am now feeling depressed reading the costs that everyone has listed...our venue (we are just about to book!) is in N. Yorkshire and is £100 a head (excluding canapes, reception drinks and evening buffet) on a Sunday in August this year for 60 guests minimum (£6,000 plus extras = £9k without photographer, dress, cake etc etc). I can't believe it as we have haggled back and forth with them as they tried to enforce an 80-100 guest minimum....hmmm...maybe I shouldn't book it! But I can't find anything else that I love :-(

    Bloody hell that's pricey!

We're not exactly being tight with wedding venues - first one we looked at was 5 grand all in, included luxury suite for me and hubby on the night, wedding breakfast for up to 50 people, buffet for up to 90 people on evening, reception drinks, decorations (including flowers, table centrepieces, table clothes and chair covers) discounted rooms for up to 20 guests and the place is a posh hall in Northumberland

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

we have to pay £350 to hire the venue, then the evening buffett as we are having a late wedding, will be £13.99 per person for the higher priced buffett, we can have upto 150 people for that, then there will be the drinks for the toast, so I think ours will be between £2000 - £3000 for the venue. :)x
