I am on the email mailing list for my venue, and recieved a newsletter today stating that they are having a huge beer and music festival this year STARTING ON THE DATE OF MY WEDDING! I rang the venue, which is quite small and in the middle of nowhere which is why we picked it and asked them about the festival..... " it's amazing" she says " bands in the garden, the function room and the restaurant area" "that's great, " I reply.... " but what about my wedding>?"

    What wedding! She says!!!!!

It's August 3rd, and my venue had not written my wedding in their diary. They have said it's all fine.... they will move the bands into the car park! So where do my guests park? Really unhappy and not sure what to do.

id have a good look through that contract and get on their case immediately. They should move the band etc to the following day. Its tough if they have to re-print everything. it is THIER mistake so dont let them make out to you its a big inconvenience to them... tough! Hold your ground hunx

What a nightmare, I agree with everyone else, it's totally unacceptable. I wouldn't want that at my wedding! Good job you are on the mailing list though hun otherwise it could of been much worse with them not knowing about your wedding! Hope you get it sorted soon, keep us updated. xx

That is awful hun! So unprofessional of them! I would tell them that you are not happy having a festival there on the day of your wedding and that they need to move it otherwise you want your deposit back and will be going elsewhere. It was their mistake in the first place not your so dont let them make you feel bad. And if they dont agree to do it make it clear to them that you will be making it known to others what they have done and they will lose valuable buisness. It will be much cheaper for them just to move the festival date! xxx

Oh wow that is seriously not on! I agree with the others, they move the festival or you get your deposit back, no quibble, plus a free night's stay for you and H2b...! Good luck at your appointment and don't be tempted to give in because you're about finding somewhere else - you will get somewhere else if needs be but it is completely up to them to bend over backwards for you, they've messed up Big time :(

Thanks guys.... have managed to get availability at one of the other venues we looked at. We decided against it initially because there is no accommodation for miles, and my family are all travelling 100's of miles to be there. It's not ideal but at least I now have a back up if the worst comes to the worst. I made it clear that we are using many local suppliers for various parts of the wedding, and that word of mouth is hugely important! Will see what they say on Saturday, and what they offer me.... seeing the other venue straight after, but they are holding it for me til then, which is great. x

Oh my gosh what a nightmare, you poor thing. I cannot believe they hadn't put your wedding in the diary, i hope it isn't too late for you to sort it out. Thank goodness you were on the email list!
I agree with alot of the above, they should be bending over backwards for you now. A festival in the car park is NOT acceptable you would have the festival go-ers to deal with who will be all over your venue as well as the bands, noise and space taken up.
    good luck x

Well guys .... they have cancelled all but one event...and that is the band we originally wanted to book for our wedding will be playing in the carpark next to the garden for an hour and a half in the evening. We couldn't book them as they were too expensive! Also... we have been given exclusive use of other parts of the venue, the dj for free and our reception drinks. Plus 5 % off our food and room hire! I am a tough cookie when crossed and I think we have done great. Mega savings plus free live band! x Thanks for being there... it's been truly emotional xx
