HELP!!!! I'm getting sooooo confused with what venue to choose but I think I have found the one BUT I'm worried that the actual hire fee their charging is expensive. It's £2760 (inc VAT) - that only includes tables, chairs, licensed bar and dance floor. Is this the normal cost??? xxxx

Not sure hun - my venue has a package deal of £2500 which includes virtually everything! But it is only a hotel and not a grand venue - what sort of venue is yours? x

Yeah that's what I thought, we're trying to keep costs realistic because we're paying for it ourselves. It's a mine field and as soon as you mention the word 'Wedding' everyone charges you a fortune xx

It depends really what you are looking for in the venue. I'm paying £3000 for my venue hire but that is for exclusive use of the venues east wing, tables, chairs, bar, toastmaster, dance floor (room), gardens, table plans, place cards and menus and bridal suite for the night. Also have asked around about the venue and their reputation appears to flawless (big relief). I looked and considered cheaper venues but didn't get the same "vibe" about any of them so think if you really want this venue and if it fits your budget then go with it. As my H2B said to me when I was thinking about the other venues is it worth paying less then thinking all day that you went for second best? xx

Thanks Zowie thats a really good point. The 2 more 'reasonible' venues I've seen haven't really blown me away but I'm not sure whether I just have unrealistic expectations and being two fussy. I think 2nd viewings may be required lol x

Thanks clareabella that would be really helpful - It's so difficult viewing a venue and imagine it dressed up for a wedding. I think thats where I'm going wrong - Forgetting that the tables and chairs and dressing up bits like chair covers and centre pieces can completely transform the room xx

If it's your dream venue and within your budget - go for it! We just snapped up the first venue we visited as it was such a good package and we are very low on funds. I do wish we could have a nicer venue, but there's no point in dwelling on it as we just don't have the money for anything fancier! x

I think it really does depend on the venue, my venue hire is 3500, it does include 6 bedrooms but not much else. We had originally booked a much cheaper venue (long story) but we were never happy and have now booked the one we always wanted.

    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I think I'm going to visit the remaining 3 venues on the list and do pro's and con's to them and work it out that way. I'm just worried either way that we'll make the wrong decision or unestimate how much it's going to be and struggle to save..... I'm a worrier! Lol xxx

sounds expensive to me with no food. We have to pay 900 for the ceremony room hire and then 100 per head for food for day and night but they throw in the reception room, and linen etc. Have to provide own chair covers, flowers and everything else. they only provide the chairs and linen and food.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

5,5 K incl 22bedrooms, restaurant, lounges, grounds (excl. hire) everything closed for the day no one else allowed...
there is room hire incl. but no food so that is extra...very expensive but i think worth it...

We are paying £1750 just for the use of the venue for the ceremony and another £900 for the use of a marquee at a different location. Before you commit to this venue you need to work out exactly how many people you will be inviting and then you can work out how much the catering is going to cost. I have noticed that they use external caterers and you might be able to shop around, so you could save money in that area?

Mrs Mcleish from what i have seen thats about right for an empty barn hire. Have a look into caterers costs though before giving up on it though cos some can be very reasonable depending on what you want of course. We ended up going for a hotel option purely because the package worked out better for us. Obviously keep looking but dont rule it out because the hire sounds expensive

Our venue is £3,995. And that's just for the hire of everything (includes tables, chairs, clothes, cutlery, crockery and all the other rubbish) but not food or drink, or DJ. So I think £2,760 is reasonable to be honest.

The venues I have been looking at, mostly hotels are charging £5000 for a drinks package, sit down meal. buffet, reception, DJ, chair covers, napkins, table plans, car, cake, photographs, bridal suite and toastmaster. So u get more or less everything apart from your dress, suits and stationary, it depends what sort of day you want and if you want to do it yourself or have someone else do it!

    Good luck :-) xxx

Different venues have different ways of charging for the same thing. We thought we'd found a deal at one point but where our venue were charging £26 per head for food, they were charging £40 and when you totalled it up though the hire charge was less, the cost of food made it more. We love where we're getting married and so the £3,995 was worth it to us. Just depends on your budget and what you want as to whether it's worth it.
