we have put our deposit down(25%) and one month before we have to pay a further 50% and two weeks before give an estimate total numbers a week before final numbers and inbetween then and 72hours before i can increse my numbers but not decrease them and then the final balance will be charge and due within 14 days AFTER the event. I thought you had to give final numbers and final moneys to them a week before. Is my venue an exception? Should i be worried there going to try adding a whole bunch of extras on the balance we wouldnt be aware of.

i probably can. they said i can pay as much as i like before the one month before so if i dont have extra people i wont have to pay more. i know how much everything costs so ive done a spread sheet and ive even done it with 20%vat for next year so they cant screw me over

My friends venue was the same as yours, which they were really greatful in the end. Two nights before the wedding they found out 2 people were coming. So thankfully they could tell the venue and weren't charge for these people.
I wouldn't be worried as I've paid £1000 deposit and I have to gove final number at the same time and pay the remained of the balance in full!!
Everyone I know who has got married or are getting married have had to do the same thing also!!
xx

We paid £500 deposit when we booked the date, will be paying another £1000 deposit in january, have to then pay the remaining 95% of the estimated cost a week before and then the remaining 5% after the wedding.
Yeah its a lot of money, but its worth it :)
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

Ours is the same. We've paid 90% so far up front and the rest is due 30 days after the wedding. If we've over paid and reduce the number's we'll get money back or if people don't drink as much wine as anticipated because they are only going to pour glasses for people who request them. Hopefully we'll get some money back at the end of it all & not owe them anything which'll be fab! xx

our venue we pay the final amount 2 weeks before, but if more/less people come then we settle the extra balance afterwards x

A lot of places work like this so I wouldn't worry. If you ARE concerned nearer the time then ask to pay the balance in full the day before the wedding, they won't say no. If you decide to pay after the wedding then make sure you get an itemised invoice to make sure they don't try to put in any hidden extras xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

The other way to look at it is that if something goes wrong on the day (heaven forbid) then if you've already paid then you've got nothing to bargain with!
If you still owe them money after the wedding you can negotiate down if there was anything that happened that the venue should have sorted.

sounds a bit scary to me. they could try and charge you for anything if you are not careful. make sure you get some sort of list of the things they may charge you for on your final bill

I would say that you are bound to have one or two drops outs through illness and stuff so I'd under estimate to be on the safe side as they've said you can't decrease the numbers but you are allowed to increase.

I think its a good thing to hold some money back... you then have something to cover yourselve if they do not do what they are ment to.. I always thought it strange to have to pay up before.. as you have nothing left if things go wrong on the day...
