So, I've been fortunate to have been given my venue for free...I just need to pay for the consumables...food, decoration, band etc.
The venue is going to have £30,000 worth of renovations between now and my wedding including the celing polystyrene tiles being replaced with a plaster ceiling (hurrah!)
There isn't much in the way of grounds and the bit of lawn there is I plan on having one or two little tables and chairs and utilising the benches already there, and also laying out a small croquet course.
As I'm an RAF girl marrying an RAF man, I'm wondering if anyone had some inspiration to help me as sometimes, when we become fixated on the task, we can lose all creativity and become quite narrow minded and stuck! (My biggest failing!)
Inside, will probably need dressing extensively, I don't know how or where to begin and am reluctant to spend a fortune ...after all, I will still have a lovely day if it wasn't done but where I can do things within a reasonable cost (less than £500) I would like to do so. I'm thinking maybe some drapes on the sides of the room (very high ceiling-its a masonic lodge) and then some uplighting... the table decorations aren't an issue as have plenty of ideas of "take home" centre pieces (I was reading threads on tea leaving guests so if I make it so it's their favours or things I don't have to return or probably won't ever reuse I figured I spare myself a problem there)
Any ideas on how I can cheaply acquire uplights (maybe LED) and what to do about drapes? I'm in West Yorkshire.
Ultimately, I want to make it so the walls don't look so bland.
The colours I want are Turquoisey blue/aqua/pastel peppermint/robin egg blue as the colour I like is "Tiffany Blue" due to my small obsession with the film and jeweller!
Currently the walls are orange and I really hate it, yet the won't advise me yet as to what the wall colour will be by the timeof my wedding so I'm trying to plan a way of potentially having to "hide" 2 of the walls (the lengthways side walls... one is entrance to the room and the other has a giant bay window and stage)
HELP!
Thanks in advance ladies (and chaps?!)!
And we lived happily ever after!

As for the LED lights, are you looking for something to go into the drapes, like a fairylight curtain, or is it actual lights you want up? xxxx For the drapes, could you search 'venue dressers' in your area, maybe through google? Sometimes they'll do drapes for a good price and they'll measure the space they need to fit and put them up for you xxxx

Thanks for this... the lights don't "have" to be LED and they don't have to be like a starcloth but was thinking maybe white drapes and uplighters on the floor?
And we lived happily ever after!

Oh right, I see what you mean! Yeah, you could try a venue dresser, try searching on the suppliers on here and try googling it too, venue dressers sometimes have ways of uplighting the floor, normally dancefloors and stuff, but I am sure they will know of ways to do what you have in mind xxx

Ahh cool, will have a look... the ones i did find when i looked were very expensive for the amount i needed (upwards of £1000!) Bearing in mind I chose my venue because it was free and figured it would need as much work as any other venue we could afford I want to be able to keep the cost of that down so it's a genuine saving and we can use it either to spend more on the catering quality/entertainment or just more money at the end of the whole thing!
Awwww yeah, i understand what you mean!! xxx We too are having our reception at a masonic lodge and getting our rooms free, so it's definitely a huge saving xxxx maybe there's some way of doing a DIY kind of thing, not really sure how you'd go about doing something like that with the drapes, but I'm sure there are ways out there xxx
