    Hi,
I went to the venue I'm interested in yesterday for a chat about what we wanted. They've just sent me a 'proposal contract' which has an order of the day and mentions the layout of the room etc. We had discussed using a smaller room for the meal but this isn't mentioned in the proposal.
Just wondering if other brides to be were sent this kind of proposal from their venues and whether they changed the details in it before signing the contract? Or can the details be tweaked after you've signed?

We received a proposal and went back for a meeting to make changes.
I wouldn't worry, but don't sign it yet. contact them and ask to meet again to discuss changes for a final contract

Yeah you need to make sure everything's as you discussed and right before you sign the contract as then you're legally bound to it x

We did not receive any paperwork until we rung up to book it. Once we had verbally booked it we were emailed a booking form, which we needed to fill out, Ts&Cs to sign which we needed to return with the deposit. On our booking form it included the extras such as ceremony, bar, use of barn day before and use of barn day after, obviously we had not made decisions with what extras we wanted so put TBC and crossed out the ceremony, as were having a church wedding. When we received our receipt of our deposit the TBC extras were included on invoice and would remain until we made our minds up so parts of our paperwork can be tweaked as we decide on certain things! The ceremony had been crossed off so our form is updated as we go on, we have dates when we need to let therm know about the bar etc so it can be confirmed.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks. There were some TBCs so they were maybe areas she thought I was undecided on. I think it was mainly to lay out the quote for all the costs we'd discussed e.g. including chair covers, candleabras.

We didn't get a proposal, just a generic contract after we'd paid our deposit. It just had our details on, date and time, whether the DJ was required and rough guide to numbers and I THINK that might have been majority of it tbh.

Yeah when our proposal came back from our venue it said Half Pavilion on it when we stated full, we immediately emailed them back stating the error and they came back saying we can set the venue however we wished it just automatically goes down as half palvilion because of our daytime numbers. I always say to them that anything that's confirmed verbally we would like also confirmed in either writing or email just so we have something to refer to if problems arise and we can go back and say "Well, this email you sent us on 00/00/00 states you said..." and end of discussion.

Ween we got a 1st quote trough I was shocked! They were very cheeky and added lots of things we didn't want or even discuss on the day (e.g 2 welcome drinks each that are the most expensive wine in the menu apart from champaign). So I emailed the lady back
And told her to take things out and only put things on that we want. She was very good and emailed back a quote that was much more reasonable.
Just call your venue or email them and tell them that have got it wrong, if they want your business they shod put it rite with out any bother. X

we have not had a contract persay, we paid the deposit and recieved a letter with the confirmation of the booking the date. as details will be firmed up nearer the time, but the venue has lots of reviews about having weddings there and the owners going out there way above and beyond for the couples.

We changed loads of details after we signed the contract, the timeline etc is completely YOUR choice, we changed ours a few times before the big day lol. But the room that you want to use I would make sure thats in the contract before you sign, otherwise they could give that room to another party or business gala etc! xx

Don't sign it until you are happy with everything it includes as far as I'm aware; once it is signed - there is no changing it :S
