Really confused H2B dad is saying that I need to wear a veil but I am thinking you spend so much money getting your hair looking its best and then cover it up!! Plus I dont like things around my face.

Its is the only think that his has asked me to do and has given us quite a bit of money towards the wedding.

What do you think I should do??

It's entirely your choice, if you don't want one you don't have to. I'm not having one. Are you getting married in a church? he might think that you have to have one for a church wedding.

if you dont want one, dont have one. but even if you do get one you dont have to wear it over your face and you can take it off after the ceremony x

Most people don't wear their veil all day, just for the ceremony. You could take it off afterwards and show off your hair. You don't necessarily have to put it over your face if you'd rather not.

But if it's really not your thing, I don't see why you should wear something you don't like, even if someone else if paying. However, from experience i know it's a little easier to compromise rather than refusing outright! You could compromise, see if you can find something else special to wear in your hair that you all like? I'm sure his mum would love to help looking at alternatives with you. If they really won't budge on it, at least you've tried.

    Good luck,

Let me know how it goes xxx

You don't have to wear one in church. Your fil2b might think that it is still expected. I've been to five chuch weddings in the last two years and none of the brides wore a veil. Perhaps you should ask him why he thinks you NEED to have a veil?

He wants me to have a veil and said that it was traditional - although he said he know we are not a traditional couple it was something that he wanted me to do!!

Can you get really little ones, all my firends have had one down to the floor!!

You can get loads of great short ones! it doesn't have to drag on the floor (cathedral veil). If you go into a dress shop they can be more than helpful with trying on veils and some will be able to suggest alternatives. This will allow you to get a good idea about all your options and they will be able to help you decide what best suits you and your dress :) Also, it'll be fun xx

You could compromise with a fascinator with a mini veil.

I was very adamant about not having a veil, I don't like the idea of one because of its origins. Also I have my heart set on a floral circlet and, like you said, I don't want to cover my hair. Plus, with my luck, I'll be that bride that gets it trapped in a door and I keep walking.
