Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Ok so i am waiting on my wedding dress should be here within the next 2 weeks and while out shopping on friday i popped into the local wedding shop just to be nosey as i have never done the whole wedding dress shop before (even though this is my 2nd time round) i had gone with my close friend and was having a great time when i saw one that really caught my eye so the lady told me to try it on. Well you cant say no thats just rude anyway i did just that fell in love but still wasnt 100 % with it.....then tge lady put on a tiara and veil............i could have cried, i felt like i was a bride. How weird that a small piece of material that i have always said i dont like totally made me feel like a bride.
Now my dilema is do i get one, it will be a cheap one i have seen and not £158 like the one i tried in the shop or do i not bother??
How many of you are wearing one and what do they look like???
H2b doesnt like them but said if i want it then its fine ....grrrrr lol x

I think I will wear one, if it goes with my dress then I will wear my sister's to save money. I'm also using her petticoat and possibly her diamanté hair comb for the same reason. Her veil was about waist length I think, and had crystals hanging from it, it was really beautiful. Good luck with making your choice, it might be worth seeing if a friend or family member has one you can borrow x

I was certain that i would not be wearing one and for the first four shops i stuck to that.Round about shop five i started to come round to the idea and now i cannot imagine getting married without one lol! I didn't get mine from the bridal shop either-i got mine off ebay for about £10 from a private seller.
My h2b said 'aren't veils really old fashioned and look like net curtains'-i told him i would be wearing one and he would be loving it!!!! What do men know? xxx

i didn't want a veil, but then tried on my MIL's catherdral lenth veil covered in pearls and crystals and I fell in love. I think a veil makes you look very bridal and really finishes off the outfit. I'm now very much in favour of them! x

I'm definitely having one! As soon as I tried one on with dresses that I've been trying it just made me feel like a bride and I could see my mum's, sister's and best friend's faces light up, I knew there and then that I must have a veil.

I agree with others that if it makes you feel more bridal then go for it! xx

thanks for all the replies, i am gonna have my hair in an up do so was thinking of just a shoulder length one on a comb that can tuck underneath and still have a blingy tiara. Its so exciting and i am currently watching a pretty on due to end soon so may even just get that one x

I've got a tiara, but refused to pay the £145 they were asking for in the bridal shop, so ordered the same design online for £46! Now I feel loads better about only wearing it the once, link is on my wall if you want to see where I got it from :-)

i think it depends on how you feel. I tried a dress on yesterday that i am 99% sure i will be going back for and i won't be wearing a veil as its a dress that doesnt want one!! Its a dress that speaks volumes for itself - will be wearing a tiara instead. x

I think, if the emphasis falls on the veil, then the hair is secondary, as it will be partly covered. Conversley, if the emphasis is on the hair, then a small veil placed towards the back would be sufficient, if at all.

    Choosing a veil is frustrating, as it's one of the most dificult things to get right. The shape of your face plays a major part in choosing a veil as well I think;

If you have a round face, then a veil that falls down the side of your face to makemit narrower will do,the job.

If you have an elongated face, then go for a veil thats wide at themsides. Stay away from up dos. It will just compound the problem.

Lastly, if you have good bone structure/a strong jawline, then show it off. A windswept cathederal veil wil make you more confident.

There you go! You can tell what do after midnight now can't you? :-)))

I wont be having a veil, I just dont like them on me but they look fine on other people. H2b does'nt like them and from what I have seen they are very expensive and people dont have them on for that long. Just seems like an extra expense I can well do without.

I am having a tiara and a viel. I tried the dress without and it was really good, I put the tiara a veil on it i thought it looked beautiful. I only spent £50 on the tiara and veil together. I havent consulted h2b on the issue, he doesnt know anything about what I am wearing x

I'm having one. Choosing it was easy as it is the exact match to the dress, the crystals match perfect and its the one the shop always match it up with on displays.

But it was £123 so I ordered one online which I thought was like it, turns out that (now I have my dress at home and have tried it on) it's compeltely the wrong colour and doesn't match AT ALL. So luckily my mum and grandma had gone and bought the one I wanted for me :)

I am going down the veil road, I have always liked them and I fell in love with the one I tried on with my dress. I said yes before io realised that it cost £150 luckily I got 10% off my dress, veil and hoop so that helped!
Mine is edged with teeny pearls and crystals, its beautiful.

I'm definitely going to be wearing one, i'm not sure why but I think I would feel that there was something missing if I were to go down the ailse without one. Trouble is they are all so pricey so I am currently trying to find one for about £20 - £30, I am being very picky though. xx

Good point Natasha (luckily I'm borrowing mine from MIL, would have been really expensive otherwise!) but nice that you're having one! I can't decide if I want it over my face or not, seems a bit silly hiding my face and being all virginal- on the plus side, it may hide some of my tears as I walk down the aisle!!

Sounds lovely. Mine is cathedral length, same length as train on dress and has tiny pearls and crystals all over that match dress perfectly. Wasn't going to have one but she offered it and was such a good match I couldn't say no! x

Mine goes down to about my bum, 2 tier, but won't be wearing it over my face. I'm just wearing it for decoration and it finishes off the look perfectly.

My mum and grandma keep dressing it on me over my shoulders, saying thats how I should wear it, but thats not what I want! I want it flowing down my back 100%!
