Enjoy every minute - it's wild! We got married at the Shalimar Chapel, just across the road from your chapel, a year ago (tomorrow! eeeek!). I thought that having a wedding Vegas wouldn't be much of a big thing out there, but I was amazed at all the attention we got, so watch out for random people wanting their photo taken with you - it happened A LOT with us LOL!

Let me know if you want details of a limo company (we did a 3 hour sunset tour which was great and the limo co were brilliant). Also I had a great hair and make up lady - watch out though, even Vegas 'low-key' is British 'uber-glam'. This is my make up on the day. I wanted something a bit different, but for someone that doesn't usually wear a lot of make-up (bit of eyeliner and mascara, on a good day), this was extreme - and I toned it down after she went LOL!
    Wedding day make up!
    Wedding day make up!

It's a fantastic experience and I wouldn't have done it any other way. Feel free to ask me anything x

We did two hotels in Vegas as we flew in on the Monday, got married on the Thursday and on the Saturday we picked up a Harley and went on a mini-road trip up to the Grand Canyon. We then came back to Vegas.
We stayed the first 5 nights at the MGM Grand in one of their Queen Bungalow Suites. We decided the extra room for me to get ready in would be welcomed...and it was! If you're looking for personal service, then this isn't the place for you. It's huge, in fact, the largest hotel in Vegas and it took us a couple of days to get oriented fully in it, and then we still managed to discover places we'd not been to in it before LOL! It's a great location and has pretty much everything you could need on site, including the Lion enclosure!
When we came back from the road-trip, we stayed at the Four Seasons. It was hilarious as we'd just dropped the bike off and were both in our scruffy biker gear, dripping with sweat, as we were in leathers in 40C heat, looking a right state! The service there was unbelievable. They never looked down their noses at us for being dressed like that and we even got a free up-grade as we were on our honeymoon. The suite was awesome - 34 floors up with Strip views with ceiling to floor windows. The beds were the most comfortable thing I've ever slept it, ever. The only down-side is that it's right at the bottom of the strip and although only diagonally opposite the MGM on the map, it really did make all the difference - probably an additional 15-20 min walk taking into account the main road you have to cross to get there. It was actually cheaper to stay there than at the MGM, probably due to the location.
We flew with V*rg*n and they were great. Got comp'd to the V-lounge at Gatwick and they stowed my wedding dress box (taken as hand luggage) in the cockpit with the pilot for safe-keeping.
    Hope that helps!
We did say that when we go back (and we will) we'd like to stay at the Mandalay Bay - it's sheer opulence, but it's by no means cheap.

I love Vegas, we went last year and got engaged watching the fountain one evening at the Bellagio!! I wish I could go every year. MY hot tip would be the show Absinthe - by Ceasers Palace - if it's still on. It's like Cirq de solei - but with comedy - and definitely for adults ( not in a sexy way - just in a slightly rude jokes kinda way).

    Enjoy!! xx

They have season in Las Vegas too. Sorry I couldn't resist. Vegas is in the middle of the dessert so extreme temperatures are the norm. It'll be warm during the day and freezing at night. Have another look at the average temps and look at the difference between the highs and lows. Even in summer it is common to have a 15 degree difference between day and night.
That said it isn't unusual to have warm spells that time of year and the area does average 300 sunny days a year.

Not at all! We went for the second cheapest ceremony as it included more, including live webstream back to the UK. We paid $299 for that package, which also included a selection of photos including more on disc, and limo to and from the chapel. We obviously then had flights and hotels etc, but the whole thing still worked out cheaper than the UK. All our friends that came over paid for themselves, except on the wedding day, when we paid for the lunch for everyone at the top of the world restaurant. We did lunch rather than dinner to keep the costs down and that was $50 a head. My uncle paid for all the wine and champagne package for everyone, which was actually more expensive than the food LOL!
We then did a sunset limo tour which lasted 3 hours, and that cost us $300. So, no, I don't think it's terribly expensive at all. x

Lol LK :) Little Miss you need to tell H2B that the people in Vegas get married there as well and most of them aren't going to go for tacky, just like most people in the UK don't go for tacky. Seriously, all he has to do is look at some LV venues websites to see there are plenty of non-tacky options :)

    Ok, here's the breakdown:
    Chapel and legal fees: £232
Wedding lunch: £300 (for 10 of us)
    Limo tour: £200
Flights and 5 nights at MGM Grand in Queen Bungalow Suite plus 2 nights at Four Seasons after road trip: £2047
Hair and Make up for me and BM: £83

So, £3664, which also includes £800 for the 5 day Harley Davidson hire and 4 nights in motels en route (and back) to Grand Canyon for road trip honeymoon.
Not sure how much spending money we actually spent as hubby handled all that, but I know that we did a heck of a lot of tourist stuff (inc seeing shows and doing the CSI experience, the shark reef aquarium and a load of other stuff) and we ate like kings!

I went to my cousins wedding in Vegas in 2009 & loved it! even if i was 6months pregnant & only 18 lol

We stayed in Excalibur hotel, was lovely, staff were brilliant, we had family stay in mandalay bay & bellagio... Both were lovely hotels.
The lion enclosure in MGM grand was brilliant :D in Mandalay bay they have a little aquarium too with sharks... & there is another hotel with animals in but cant remember.....

The wedding we went too was lovely, they had some gorgeous photos taken, the wedding was in Excalibur...

They have some good shows about too. we went to the one in our hotel with the knights - cant remeber what the show was called! haha

Things may have changed a little now Stacey - the Shark Reef Aquarium is not so small anymore! There's a large tunnel you go through made out of glass, so it really gives you the feeling that you're swimming with the sealife!
And the other place is probably Seigfried and Roy's Secret Garden at the Mirage. There are dolphins there as well as a good selection of tigers and lions...although I have to say, of all the zoo's I've been to, I was least impressed with this one. The animals were pacing and just generally looked pretty bored. They were also a bit stinky, so I'm not convinced about the level of care they get there.

OK, so you could try the following places too:
Fremont St (during the half-hourly shows as the 'ceiling' lights up)
Top of the Stratosphere - although they have their own photographers there, so they may not allow you to take up your own photographer.
The canals at the Venetian Hotel
    The Mirage volcano's
Go into Binions Casino and have your picture taken with $1m!! Yes, it's real!

There are probably more...and it depends on if you want to head out of Vegas too...there's then Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon (i'm pretty sure lala will tell you that Red Rock Canyon will give you the best piccies ;))
