Oh my word having scoured the shops, I cant find any bridesmaid dresses that A. I can afford B. are the right colour C. suit all 3 of my bridesmaids......... one problem being my 12 year old neice has a 37inch chest but is not very tall at all! No childrens dresses fit her and the adults ones look ridiculous. My maid of honour is tall and really slim (size 8) and my other bridesmaid is a size 12 (nice n easy one). So getting a dress in the right colour that suits all 3 and in my price range has proven impossible....... so in my ultimate wisdom (or stupidity) I have decided to make them. The materials etc for all 3 in exactly the right colour has only come to £65. I guess am just looking for some encouragement really lol....... as I am now stressing about making 3 dresses by October and making them look good enough for bridesmaids to wear!!!!!! I have only ever made dresses for myself before and then it doesnt really matter if I make mistakes on them.......... Am I being daft? do you think I should just try and buy some and compromise on style or colour??? x x

I'm making mine too so I'm glad someone else is in the same boat. I wouldn't stress though as I have 3 to make to and we get married on 4th June and we have only cut out the fabric and started to tack stuff together! Little bit stressed.com! But my mum is helping so hopefully they will start to come together soon.
Good luck and we should stick together on this one!

wow!!! i LOVE that you have used the same black lace on the dresses as the invitations! it really ties it all together nd personalises it! i am thinking of making my BM's dresses (or rather getting my mum to do them lol) so good lcuk to you hun! so far the one you are making looks lovely! x
CommentAuthorKimi
Looks great so far, braver than me, thankfully only got one BM and she's my niece in US so other than giving her strict colour options I've told her to go wild and she can choose what she likes. She'll be tasteful and has my sister to reign her in so not worried. :)
Do want to see your finished products though :)
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

well one dress is almost finished - new pics on profile - just needs the black lace adding around the midriff, then hemming and the net underskirt adding then its done yay, welcome any opinions though girls, please be honest does it look good enough for my bridesmaids to wear or does it look obviously homemade and should I therefore scrap it and just buy some........... ??????

CommentAuthorRaggedyAnne
I too am making bridesmaid dresses, in fact i am cutting one of them out tonight....... i went along the DIY route so that i could get the exact thing i wanted. and of course the price. i was quoted £200 per dress for what i wanted......yet i have bought all the silk i need from Thailand...(ebay) for £150......for all 4 of them. no contest is it?
I can resist anything but temptation
