    Hi,
I was reading a magazine the other day that said to save money you could try getting married somewhere unsual and one of the places they suggested was a barn! I love this idea, I want to have a silver/midnight blue colour theme so thought a barn could look really good decorated as such.. with nicely placed fairy lights and candles.. = )

Does anyone else have any cheap venue ideas?

Near Liverpool would be perfect for me but I want to hear any ideas if people have them! = )

I think that sounds lovely im having midnight blue too but with white and splashes of pale pink! Would you be able to completely decorate the venue yourself? because somewhere like that would prob be a diy job or you could search venues a few months before if your brave and try and get a special offer x

I don't know...converting a barn sounds more expensive. Fairy lights are not cheap. You would need loads of them...I think! But if u can pull it off it would be great!

You have to remember to add on extra costs such as portaloos etc and also generators if there is no electrical supplies to the barn etc. Like Cam says it doesn't always work out cheaper by the time you take all this into account. Also its getting caterers to come and serve food up as they usually need somewhere to prepare the food and you also need somewhere cool to store it so again its fridge hire etc. Nice idea but not always the most cost effective. Some hotel chains do packages where you can get everything for £999. I think Holiday Inn is one of them and they have branches nationwide.

All the barn venues I've seen online were very pricey beautiful but out of budget. I think a diy job would still cost loads I seen it n don't tell the bride and the guy had 12k so that's what I'd class as quite a big budget.
I have heard of people having their ceremony in weird places though as long as the registrar agrees it's safe I think they let you get married where you like :-)

Jo's right... a friend of mine has her heart set on her h2b's family garden as her venue... however its costing so so much for caterers (theyhave to bring a portable KITCHEN....) TOILETS... electricity...things you take for granted at a venue like tables chairs china etc... its workingout ridiculous but shes still doing it... xx

A registrar needs to marry you in a licenced venue in this country... a lot of people have small weekday legal marriages at the registry office for low cost then have a humanist / blessing at a venue of their choice.

Im getting married on HMS warrior and old ship thats a museum during the day. Its like the titanic on top but is all oldy worldy inside with cannons and stuff. Its was amazingly cheap compared to the barns that we looked at before plus its so romantic at night when its all lit up. Alot of public places are available for weddings and most times we dont even know. Ships, museums etc. have a look around where you live hun xx

I saw that on Dont tell Bride and it cost him more to do the barn up ..it was over 6k for the venue and food.
The cheapest way would be like blond said, a legal marriage then off to a favourite place for a service. You can pay a humanist to conduct the service or could write it yourself with a friend who would be confident to do it for you. Someone on here is doing this at a favourite beauty spot

Barns are really expensive! Unless they are thinking of asking a local farmer to use his barn lol but then you've gotta think about all the extra likes a bar, tables, loo's etc etc it will really add up.

My colours are midnight blue and silver and I'm holding mine in a mansion house and it works perfectly!
