My OH and I are going wedding ring browsing tomorrow and I really love this blue sapphire/diamond one but worried it's not a 'proper' wedding band as it's more an eternity ring .... What do people think? I really wanted it as an engagement ring but changed my mind at the last minute to get a more traditional ring in the picture below! xx

If you want it go for it :) you must really like it if you'd wanted it for your engagement ring, decided more traditional and then are considering it for your wedding ring.
What does your fiancée think?
CommentAuthorTheNewMrsBarrett
I agree with Donna, if you love it this much go for it! The ring that I like looks more like an eternity ring really but I'm not bothered lol x

I love it! If you love it then go for it! :)

I say go for it, my engagement ring is not the normal traditional ring my h2b had designed one and had it hand made because I personally don't like diamond's, there's a picture of it on my profile x
follow your heart and you're dreams will come true
Thanks ladies! Just wanted some unbiased opinions ie not me or my OH! It needs to be white gold as my ER is and our colour scheme is this type of blue too and well.... I love it anyway! Fiancee loves it too and providing it's not too expensive (which it's not), then she's more than happy for me to have whatever ring I'm happy with :) xx

Go for it :-)
I think times are changing and people are moving away from the traditional solitaire/plain band and starting to mix things up a bit.
In my case I have a floral cluster engagement ring, and my main wedding band will be a diamond one shaped to fit around it (though I'm also having a plain palladium band, too).
I think that band will look lovely with your engagement ring, and complement it really nicely :-)

It's beautiful hun, go for it! My wedding band isn't a specific wedding ring either. It's a full eternity ring but i fell in love with it xx
CommentAuthorLyndsey M
my wedding ring is going to be quite similar to this also (small diamond and sapphires set all the way around the band) because it will compliment my engagement ring more, I coudlt care less if its not the done thing.
I think you should get it if you like it, there are no rules to say you cant be different :)

The sapphire ring is lovely x

I like both, personally I prefer the white band but the sapphires are very pretty. And as the others say which ever you prefer is the one that is right for you! :-)

Hi. I have just had exactly the same dilemma. Ive got a vintage ruby flower engagement ring and Ive chosen a ruby and cz wishbone as my wedding ring as my engagement ring sits in it nicely and I love it. My Mum wasnt keen but its not her day or her ring. Do what feels right and what you like. X

Thanks ladies, my favourite is the sapphire and diamond wedding band so I think I'll go with that and order when I have the money :) at the end of the day, I have to wear it right? So I should be happy! My fiancee has a curvy ring so needs something more simple for hers but mine is very simple so I can do afford to have a more fancy ring pattern wise :) xx

Thanks :) she's not sure.. She's debating between a plain gold band with a slight groove in to fit her ER or a wishbone but she's not sure yet but there's plenty of time to decide! Personally I think she should go with the gold band as it looked better but if she finds 'the one' as it were in a wishbone style then she'll probably go with that so who knows! Simple but elegant hopefully for both of us :) xxx

Debbie's new ring!
Grandma's ring
Well, after the excitement of the other day and deciding that I was going to have the sapphire/diamond ring, that all went up in smoke last night after a look at all the family jewels in the in-law's safe! My OH has had jewelry left for her by her maternal Grandma at 18 and will also inherit some jewelry next year when she turns 21 but when she was 18, one of the things she inherited was a beautiful, vintage ring that's around 100 years old encrusted with diamonds, set in platinum and last time it was valued several years ago it was £1,500!! More importantly though, I feel honoured that I can wear her ring because although I know she already loves me like another granddaughter, it also shows that she really does approve of our relationship. It also means a great deal because she has Alzheimer's and is very elderly in her 90's so when the unfortunate day comes that she passes on, all I have to do is look down and remember her fondly knowing I'm carrying on her legacy as it were. I feel very privileged and touched that she was happy for me to wear it as a wedding band xxx

Obviously it is going to need to be re-sized before the wedding but it's lovely regardless especially as it's not your typical generic ring.. Not many people are going to have this and have something that means so much either! I'm changing my name to my OH's family name so it's almost fitting to have this as well....

The ring is stunning and really compliments your engagement ring! Its such a lovely compliment to have the OH's family to give you an heirloom. Like you said, it is their way of saying they are giving their blessing to your relationship. My engagement ring was my OH's Auntie's ring. I wouldn't want anything else! x
