hi, me and my oh are planning on getting married in 2017. because he doesnt have much family (mum and one son) i want a small wedding in a registry office where they will be no more than 10 of us. i think the latest time we can have is half 2 in the afternoon. now my question is what do we do after the wedding at the registry office. we dont really have any friends and im quite a shy person i thought of us going home for a few hours and getting changed then going to a restraunt that evening with family his mum and son but i dont have a clue.. HELP!!??

    thanks xx

If that is what you want then do that, or you could just go for a meal following the ceremony at the registry office instead of going home. That is what I was going to suggest.

I love the idea of going for a meal after the ceremony, think that would be perfect :) I would also go straight from the registry office too though xx

i did think of having a reception at a social and club or the small cricket club and having a buffet and inviting what friends we do have but i then thought woudnt that be cut short as we would possibly get to the reception around 4-5oclock and for a evening do that be abit early? we dont want anything where their is formal speaches or anything like that. argh im really unsure and stuck.

Would the people at an evening do be at the ceremony?? If not, still go for a meal with those ten people or so who will be at the ceremony, then if you want to have a small affair at the cricket/social club with buffet, do that from about 7ish onwards.

GF's suggestion is a good one.

Also, are you having photos taken? If so remember you will need to allow time for those as well which will push the meal/evening do a little bit later xx

To me if I was inviting friends to an after do I would also want them at the wedding too, depending on numbers I would probably just go for a meal after the registry office :-)

When in 2017 are you getting married? If it's summer time do you or one of your family members have a garden big enough to hold a small tea party/bbq, you could invite as many (or as little) people as you like, it will be less formal and you would have to worry about timings plus it should be easy enough to do without spending a lot

have my eyes set on gretna green now, on a small package where they will just be me and my oh.. then when we come home we can have a party and invite everyone.. avoid all the family bitching on the day. they have a package for a 2 night stay and you can buy all the extras like flowers and transport etc which is brilliant for us x

My Dad got married in a registry office and we went to a local pub for lunch afterwards. They did all the usual speeches and stuff too :)
