I'm getting married next month abroad in Malta. (27th Dec) Two friends are coming and being witnesses etc. (so happy that they can come during Xmas and they are so excited)
My wedding reception is however held in the UK AFTER the New Year. 1 month after. Gives people a chance to recover from the xmas festive period.
My dress is currently being made (photo album) and recently went to a family party where my auntie asked for a photo of the dress so I showed her in private. She then started to cry and ask me if I was planning on wearing my dress again at the reception so people can see it in person.
I didn't have an answer.
1 - What are other peoples thoughts on this? 2 - Will people think I'm daft to wear it again on a day we didn't get married on? (planning on shortening it and funking it up for a Punk/Goth theme Masquerade do in the May)
PS -- just paid off the H2B silver pocket watch, still stuck on engraving ideas. Still thinking of this one 'A kiss makes the heart young again and wipes out the years' (have a post based on this pocket watch lark)
I also have a dilemma, H2B has asked me, what gift do i want? i have a necklace, bracelet and earrings all ready for wedding, i have a friend who's making a Harry Potter charm garter.... I'm stuck on ideas too!!!

no harm in wearing the dress twice you get more wear out of the dress instead of wearing it once and for your dress to live in your wardrobe for the rest of your life!!

I will be having a bbq/ house party at home hopefully. If i do i will wear my dress just to show to ppl x

We got married in Gretna Green then had our evening reception a month later back home, after our honeymoon. I wore my wedding dress again - as our wedding was just for close family (19 of us altogether). It gave everyone else (extended family, friends and colleagues) chance to see the dress 'in person'.
I also changed into a second dress half way through the night so that I could have a dance etc (and was a good excuse to wear my wedding dress a second time and also buy something new as well lol).

I will be wearing mine for my wedding in the uk and reception but because I have some relatives who can't travel to the wedding because if illness I will be wearing it at a 2nd party for them to see. I'm planning on getting my money's worth out of my dress.
CommentAuthorKarenW25
I love the idea of wearing my dress more than once but don't have a second event. I definitely think you should wear it again for the second do. Maybe we should arrange a yearly wedding dress ball so that we get to wear them again and again.
CommentAuthorCharlieBe-Cool
Yes wear the dress again, I'm sure many brides would love to wear theirs more than once!
As to the pocket watch, how about having it engraved with lines from a poem? My fav is "I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart". Lovely poem I had typed up into a photo book for my friends wedding.
Or maybe a line from your favourite movie/book/tv show. Some have very nice quotes.
