We have already sent out our invites but we have now thought that we actually want an unplugged wedding - this means leave your phones at home ladies and gentleman!

I hate the fact that most pictures you see of wedding nowadays atleast one person has their phone out! Hello, I'm not paying all this money for you to be on your phone - can someone please help me find a cheap and easy way to say to guests that our wedding is going to be unplugged?

    Hi Rachel,
Not sure if you are having an order of service but can put it on there and ask the minister to mention it before you walk in.
Maybe have a chalkboard sign out too.

I do think its a bit much asking them to leave it at home completely though but that is just my personal opinion. I agree with not wanting them in all the photos.

Were making signs that were putting up and also having them on our pictograph programs - I want us to be the first ones to post on book of the face pictures of us! I'm happy for them to take selfies but I want zero pics of us up before we do one xx

We have been thinking about having an order of service but I may ask the registrar to mention something before the ceremony starts!
We don't mind them taking photos and using their phone just not in the ceremony! I think we're going to write it on a chalk board outside the entrance to our venue to make sure phones are switched off or on silent and no phones are to be used during the ceremony.

I don't think I'd like to leave my phone at home, as you never know when you will need it. I feel lost without it. Plus there may be people who need to be contactable in an emergency. You could though put something up saying please don't use your phones other than in emergencies, as you want people to be totally involved in the day. The minister should ask people to ensure that phones are off or on silent anyway for the ceremony, and you could ask that no phones are being used during the official photographs. Photographers often prefer that as well.

I also would like an unplugged wedding, but mainly due to the fact that I don't want photos going up on book of face etc. I'm putting it in invites but I've seen chalk board notices and think they look great! x

What about waiting until you have your rsvps back, then send a little reminder in a poem form maybe to say you would like phones to be kept away.

Our registrar told guests when they were seated, before I walked in, there would be plenty of opportunities for photos so please don't until told to do so after the signing of the register. It worked really well.

Sounds like a good idea. I've been a bit worried that photos of our special day will be shared before we've had a chance to put anything on. One of our guests lives on the book face, so it's a worry. Think OH will go for unplugged as well - never heard of this before, but love the idea!

It's a nice idea of unplugged in church- people rely on phones too much and it's a good idea to ask ppl not to post on fb for at least a day too

I shared something like this on the book yesterday!! The groom was pictured leaning to look at the bride walking down the aisle due to people standing in the way getting photos on their phones..... So upsetting!

I want the registrar to say no pictures/phones allowed until they say.

I really don't want any pics uploading until the day after!!

    I would be really annoyed.

Might have to g00gl3 the signs GF!

I seriously might do this and accompany it with one about photos during the ceremony.

We have 2 photographers anyway so 1 at the front 1 at the back to capture all angles!

I saw that post Emma, it was so sad that the groom had to move to see his bride because of the wave of phones.

We want people to use their phones to take pictures throughout the day and upload to social media/W3dp1cs, but definitely NOT during the ceremony. I think that's incredibly rude and would never even contemplate getting my phone out in the middle of a wedding ceremony - do people really do that??

I will be completely honest and say as my friend walked in at the registry office in September, I did take pics on my phone but I do not regret that at all as we looked at her real wedding photos and the photographer got none at all of her walking down the aisle. She was so grateful..... I would never ever block the aisle or the groom though!

I was sat parallel to the door and no one was behind us!!

There was something on book of face where there were so many people blocking the way that the groom was leaning to see his bride walk down the aisle. It was sad to see.

I didn't actually realise that you could take pics during the ceremony, never seen anyone do it at any wedding I've been to, afterwards fair enough but I'd never do it during.

I do think it'd be hard not to take phones at all as people may need them during the day but just respectfully ask at the beginning of the ceremony for people strictly to not take any pics. I'm sure most people should hopefully respect your wishes on your special day xx

We let people take photos, photographer positioned himself to make sure he got the best shots of us. We got people to take usb stick with them at the end of the night and download photos on to them and send them to us. One of our guests videoed the ceremony and some of the party afterwards and put it on the usb stick, we wouldn't have gotten it if we had a unplugged wedding. x Video not professionally done but it is some thing we have to treasure. x We asked everyone not to post anything on book of face and they carried out our wishes x
