After fretting about venues I found a few and we are still waiting to hear back from two but thought I'd tell about two we saw n get ur opinions. First one was lovely and the first one I've seen so far that I actually really like. They deal with everything on the day and have all the little touches and the room looked fab and everything. A tad pricey but we both loved it. And the lady was really polite apologised she was late only a few minutes and just seemed very proffessional. Went to the second one and before we even looked around h2b wanted to leave. The lady booked us in for 10am even though her meeting didn't finish til 10 meaning we were data round 20mins. To which we got no 'sorry I'm late' or anything just a hello. She showed us the room. Which was next to a main corridor and the doors were all glass. Not the nicest thing having ppl watch you eat ect. And it just looked ok, nothing special. So I asked about guests staying overnight as its a hotel and her response was. I can't book any rooms until I know about goodwood ( a festival thing) because its around that time n if that's same time they take all the rooms up. So that got my back up. Am I wrong to think that if someone is booking a wedding and wanting rooms u should allow it? So we ended up leaving after 10 mins, she was so unprofessional and hardly spoke or anything, we are hopefully looking at two more but the first one we looked at the other day seems to be a good choice. It's not first we seen as looked at about 5 others but didn't like any of them x

We viewed about 10 and one was exactly as you described. We loved it on paper and were ready to put a deposit, Iit was alright but nothing special. They were aloof so we looked elsewhere. The venue we chose is a little expensive but its the only one we both liked the look of and liked the wedding coordinator.
As for rooms I think its awful they will put something before your day! Our is also a hotel and all rooms are reserved for our guestz to book until 6 weks before when they will be released to the public to book. I would give the seccond one a wide berth!!
You can also ask the first one for discounts or extras, we saved alot of money by doing it! It also made it affordable and not totally out oc our budget!!!

Can I just make a point that you may like the co ordinater of one but not the other venue but your Wedding is still 3 years away?? A lot can change in that time?? They could change jobs etc??

looking at it from the hotels side .. if they know they can fill rooms for Goodwood obv they are going to look at that first ... you could reserve room and then at the last minute not fill all you have on hold!
We're still going to look at a few other places but least we have one on the love list. We loved the venue n the co ordinater which I think helped n hopefully she'll till be there but won't ruin it if she's not, I just think it helped she was nice. And didn't poo poo that the wedding was so far away. The hotel with the rooms issue, wouldn't even say we could book a room for us or hold any. Which I think is wrong as they could hold til 6 weeks before that I'd understand but not evening saying they would hold one and i look at it that its my wedding day and I'm paying all that money I should feel special not second best and the money they would have made from the wedding would have topped a few rooms. It just felt like she wasn't interested so defo taking a wide birth from them lol. The one we love said that we could talk about extras added in :D plus they do all the setting up including chair covers for free which is an added bonus anyway x
Emma-louise I knowhow you feel. We are looking at venues for 2016 and the one I want is a little over budget but the co-ordinator was lovely. We had a few questions at our first meeting and she didn't have the answer at the time.....e-mail came thorugh that night. She has even told us outright that they can be flexible on the prices which is something extra too as the other venue I like but not quite so much is about £1200 cheaper.
Some of the venues we have been to see are looking at us like we are mad for even coming for a show around as our wedding is so far away. SOme of them are like "we haven't even printed a price yet for that year so we couldn't guarantee a costing for you". They try to make you feel like you have wasted their time.
They are having a showcase at the end of the month so it will be set up as it would be for a wedding. Hoping that I can get ahold of the girl again and maybe convince h2b to book that night as I can't imagine having anything else right now I feel that I would be settling.
Go with your gut though. If you choose a venue but feellike the staff won't care to make sure everything is organised you are not going to have a great day as you will spend it worrying. I hope you find your dream venue soon xx

I would skip that one, it won't be worth the stress if you need to ask a question and they can't be bothered to get back to you. You are paying for a service as well as the venue and if that service is bad then it will only cause you stress further down the line xx

Thanks ladies, its funny how some venues r so abrupt because of the date. Sounds like you found the perfect venue Cathryn :) I might message the one we love and ask if there having showcase as I think they have them n think it will help picture it and see all they have to offer x

They should be pleased to get bookings so far in advance, it guarantees them income. Good luck with the other option :)

Exactly that's what I thought they should be happy about it. Still waiting to hear back from two which is annoying me now as been a long time so guessing I'll have to contact them again x

If they are realisistic, alot of brides change their mind about the venue the dress etc. If they take your deposit and change their mind they get money for doing nothing. Because what a bride wants she usually gets so if she changes ger mind not much the groom can do to stop it. £1500 deposit to the venue to have a couple of hours with the couple 3 ears before intended date:) xx

Exactly, which is why it bugged me so much that they weren't interested. At end of day no skin of my nose as my oh wanted to walk out before she even come over to use because of her booking the meeting when she was still in a meeting. He's abit funny about times which I don't blame him really. And I think be use we loved the first one and just everything about it, the other one didn't match up at all. Part of me wants to just ring the two I'm still waiting to hear back from and hurry up n look at them so we can choose one because once its chosen I can finish sorting centre pieces as will know what I want and same with chair covers and all the bits for the hotel :) plus will give us an approx price so we have something to save for making it easier to save if that makes sense x

Awww I know how you feel. I pretty much know what I want but much easier to sort out now we have a budget planned out. Although my colour scheme went out of the window when we bought his kilt. I just want to get everything booked and then I can concentrate on paying it all off. I am so excited about it all. what time of year are you planning on getting married xx
CommentAuthorMrsC2bee
Oooo where did u get his kilt? My oh wants to wear his family tartan as kilt but struggling to find one that's not really expensive. Our colour theme set around his kilt as its got navy blue in it and only colour I liked out of it hehe. I'm like that just book it and then can figure money out around it although I budgeted £450 for cake and quotes are coming in at £650 :( we're booked for 16.07.16 so July. So wont be able to get discounts but hoping on early booking getting cheaper prices as well as extras hehe x

We went to Nicholsons on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Kilt cost £400 only thing that included was the kilt and the gerter flashes made in his tartan. Not cheap but he has been wanting a kilt for ages and I had just been paid a bonus at work so paid it while we had some spare cash. Now we are on the hunt for the venue but our wedding will be similar time to yours aiming for the first week in july 2016 xx
