Actually I like the idea of the seperate bags for newly engaged/hen-do/just married etc
if it were done that way it could be split into cheaper more affordable packs and you only get the packs you need. EG instead of £20 for one big bag it could be £5 for smaller bags. then you don't get the stuff you don't need.

How about so you don't get cold feet socks as an addition for the h2bs? Just a thought that it would make them feel abit more included in the pack x

Personally I wouldn't buy a pack like this with some of these things in. If I want to buy a lucky sixpence or disposable cameras or a garter I'd buy the ones I want. Seems a bit of a waste to put those kind of things in.
If it was all UKB stuff though then I'd be more interested.
I like the wedding planning book, it could have similar things in it to what the site offers I like the wedding mag idea too as long as it was a UK bride mag, could feature real weddings from forum members, that would be awesome actually. I like the pens and mugs if they have UKB logos on I'd like a t-shirt more if it was a vest/camisole Discount book that has decent discounts would be great too. Maybe a UKB tote/shopping bag
Things that're actually useful and we could get to show our support for UKB is more appealing to me than a bunch of sample junk and stuff I don't need.

I love this idea, I'd especially buy one with UK Bride things in.
As far as the 'free' items are concerned what about templates or website address for good DIY projects? Lots of B2B's are doing DIY things now and it can take forever to find good websites. Eg, invitations, crystal boquets, how to make bouquets, how to make corsage/button hole, place cards, confetti cones, wine glass charms, ideas for room decorations, centrepieces etc

I think it might be a nice idea to have a monthly draw where one lucky bride to be could win one - particularly for the higher priced bags - if you go for that one. Logically it could be a draw just for the newbies of that month - but then again i'd quite like one myself!! lol.

Okay so this is where we are so far...
First of all thanks for everyone's suggestions.
There are so many ideas but we have to make it affordable and we have to be realistic.
Instead of Goody Bags, it will be The Goody Box!!! To start with we'll have one for those at the start of wedding planning.
Wedding Box 1 will be 'The Wedding Starter Kit'!
Suggested contents for you to discuss are...
1 - DISCOUNT VOUCHERS... So many of you wanted money saving vouchers, so we will sort a discount book (which will look like a cheque book, with local and even national businesses with great discounts (that's gonna take time to pull together)!
2 - A RANGE OF BEAUTIFUL UKBRIDE WEDDING PLANNING MAGAZINES... We are magazine publishers and produce www.lincolnshirepride.co.uk a High Society Magazine. But we'll need your help! We want a 101 Wedding Savings book by UKbrides Members (Perhaps a Mod can pull that together for us in a new thread. The best 101 go in the book with your name (or forum name)!!! I know we already have a thread but we need THE BEST 101.
Also a REAL WEDDINGS MAGAZINE... Again ONLY UKBRIDES MEMBERS will go in the magazine (we'll probably update the books every year). So we'll set up a QnA for UKbrides members to answer which will help to tell THEIR story, and permission will be needed from their photographer (they will get a free plug in the magazine)!
A Step by Step Wedding Planning Magazine again put together by You lovely ladies! We'll let you know what we want nearer the time!
Also a UKBRIDE WEDDING IDEAS MAGAZINE, which will include the ideas YOU LOVE!!! (Exciting!!!)
A complete collection of the latest Wedding Dresses from as many designers as we can cram in!
3 - 'HOW TO CARDS' - how to be a best man, bridesmaid, groom, how to plan the big day checklist, how to budget for your wedding etc
4 - A BEAUTIFUL GARTER
5 - A SILVER SIXPENCE - in a little white box wrapped in blue ribbon, for your old and blue!
6 - ENGAGEMENT PHOTOSHOOT - currently this is free but it will be changing soon (so if you haven't had yours yet get it sorted quick)!
7 - POWER USER STATUS - with all if the usual goodies (existing PU's will get a generous discount on the wedding box!)
8 - A UKBRIDE PEN - a funky trendy pen (not a rubbish one lol)
9 - A UKBRIDE BAG FOR LIFE
10 - LOADS OF SAMPLES, hopefully from local and national businesses (this will always be subject to change)
11 - HEN & STAG NIGHT MAGAZINE AND DISCOUNTS
12 - AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST A STUNNING WEDDING PLANNER (Like a wedding FILOFAX). Which will have step by step info, UKbride branding, pockets for photos, ring binder to add more pages, contacts page, diary, notes etc!!! Size A4 or A5 or somewhere in between lol.
Okay so tell me what you think about the FIRST WEDDING BOX - 'The wedding starter kit' - if it's successful we will have a Box for the Groom, nearly weds and newly weds (and we may even do top table boxes))!
Here's the big question - HOW MUCH!!!
Some can only afford £10, but post and packaging alone costs £10!!!
We could do the box for £25 plus P&P, this is not a problem but the contents will have to be basic mags with only 20 odd pages in each one, the Filofax would be A5, and we would have to limit the samples due to weight
Or we could do £50 plus P&P - this would mean the magazines would be around 150 pages each, the Filofax would be Up to A4, the samples would be virtually unlimited, and the quality if the pen, bag etc would be much high quality.
You get what you pay for...
Okay please vote...

Yes but I would only pay £25+Pp I know the quality won't be quite as good but I'm fine with that

Yes I would but one and pay more than £50+pp to get even better contents
5%
Yes but I would pay less than £25 to have just some of the stuff
£50 for mainly UKbride promotional things.... i think its massively expensive. I think the wedding planner is a good idea but can buy them so much cheaper elsewhere.... most people are saving up to get married and from that box the only real wedding related items you would use for your wedding would be sixpence and garter. Im not being negative but £10 is realistic but understand you cant due to postage but £50 is alot more and the stuff you are including doesn't come to value of £50 i dont think.
Finally marrying the love of my life !!

I'd be happier with a £25 box weddings are expensive enough as it is and I personally wouldn't want to pay £50 for wedding planning help when it could be going on the wedding! I think £25 a good middle ground and the contents would be well worth paying for! I like an a5 filofax better than an a4 one, you can take an a5 around everywhere with you. And I think a UK bride pen doesn't have to be a fancy fountain pen or anything, as long as it works it'd be a nice thing to have.
I absolutely love all the wedding mag ideas, it'd be like all the info from the forum in one ( a few?) magazines. That would be SO useful for any new bride. And I think it's really exciting we'd get to take part in contributing the content.
I like the silver sixpence as it's something pretty much every bride will get use out of. Not sure on the garter though, what colour would it be? Ivory means girls with white dresses may not want to use it and visa versa. Maybe it could be blue as the something blue and keep the blue ribbon out of the sixpence bit.
Overall I'm really impressed with what you guys have chosen to put in it, it's a mix of really helpful wedding planning tools and a few luxury goodies too. Not only would be a great thing for us to buy ourselves, it would be a fantastic gift to give other new brides who aren't on the site yet.

Hi Millz090,
Just to make clear, I would be happy to remove all UKbride branding, it was added as many brides said they would want that.
The discount voucher chequebook would be from over 200 Suppliers from around the UK, use anyone and you would get your £50 back (we would insist that each voucher is worth AT LEAST £50 off!!!
The planner that we have in mind is worth £19.99 -we can't find it cheaper anywhere else -but we would make our own which would be better ;o)
The garter is £9.99 (to the same quality and style) and we know we have a colour issue (and we can't have different items in each box -ivory is the most common colour but blue does seem a good idea, we'll let you guys vote. We won't be able to please everyone).
The sixpence in a box is £6.99
Power User is £20
Engagement shoots are usually £35
The mags would cost well over £10 in total (national mags are £4.99 our would be as good but put together by REAL brides and brides to be (ie:you)
The pen and bag probably worth £1.50
P n P is £10
So it adds up to £113.47 and remember if you use just one voucher you'll virtually have it for FREE!!!
Sounds like a FANTASTIC deal to me....I better start saving hehehe
Ok so not everyone will use all the vouchers but if each one is worth 50 in itself you only have to use one to make your money back and if theres two you like ........bargain!! Not sure about the power user being included as alot of people have paid 20+ (depending how they pay and how long for) and others like me became a power user for free by building the points up so not sure how you would determine the "discount".............maybe include a certain amount of points in them instead? something like 100,000 or even 250,000 maybe.
Oh one thing tho....can the bag NOT be plastic....can we have something like a tote bag made of cotton or even hessian or something similar....would cost more but Ive seen the cotton ones for 3.99 (I have some for my bm's that I designed myself) so wouldnt be TOO much more lol
I have my engagement shoot next month ;-) so I'm sorted there lol (will post pics when it's down)

I agree about the bag!
I think it's a fantastic deal for £25 rather than £50.
Especially as there's a bunch of stuff included that I (and many others) may not make use of. The engagement shoot and the discount vouchers for example, also power user status. Realistically I would make use of about £40s worth of the stuff, maybe less.
Offers I may not take advantage of, (the engagement shoot and discounts) don't count in adding to the value of the box as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't count the mags as being worth that much though I appreciate there's the cost of printing but it's not worth the money when you can get the same info right here on the forum.
£50 is just too much. It's just paying double the amount for what is basically extra paper, in my opinion.

I'm inclined to agree with Lego, i know I wouldnt use any of the vouchers, and I have had no interest in magazines in their physical form for a long time, I have a flick through and throw them in recycling - then just find what I want online anyway. I already know I won't bother with the engagement shoot, as I already had the opportunity when I joined the site.

It wont let me vote but... I would pay £25 as already paid £20 to be a power user. The vouchers are a great idea especially if some were aimed at after the wedding such as a discount at a hair dresser or something for a boost afterwards. I agree a proper bag would be better. Garter i would personally like blue. I dont think it needs to be a sixpence in a box. I got mine in a plastic wallet for £2. I think its a great idea but i wouldnt pay £50 because there might be vouchers i cant use as already booked or not near me. I LOVE the filo fax idea, at the moment i have an a4 folder.
I think have a £25 and £50 box and people can choose xx

I think £25 is more than enough if it also gets you power user status - you pay £20 for that anyway. I think £50 is way to much. I wouldn't spend that much on it. x

CommentAuthorLinzi-jo
I though it was a good idea when you were talking a little bag of goodies for £10 but there is no way I could justify paying £25 or £50 plus postage and packaging! Most of us on here are budget brides and these are too expensive for me and I'm sure they would be for a fair few others too x

I wouldn't pay £50 and the magazines just add weight -would love to see an on-line version of the UkBrides stories. Like the idea of vouchers, but these could be also done on-line. I think if the power user status included access to the on-line savings book, magazine and a small sample box with pen and A5 organiser I would be happy to buy but only at a low cost.
