Wedding Forum - UKbride FREE engagement shoot! UPDATED!!!!...

Hi, I received an email today, saying

UKbride would like to thank you for joining, and as a thank you we are offering a free engagement photoshoot for you and your partner. ETC

I was just wanting to check if anyone else had received this? or if its a scam? It look pretty official, and had the right logo on, but this things are easy to fake if you know what you're doing. So far i've not been asked to send over any details, which I think is promising, But wanted to know if I should avoid it, or if I've actually been lucky =) in which case YAY! so excited.

shes not online :( will keep a look out for her though. Just don't want to be scammed, I already think i've been scammed by makeover london, as read a thread on here about them, and they've been removed from the UKbride site now. So i'm already worry enough about that :(

Yey... It's nice to put big smiles on my members faces. This new scheme has been set up and organised by me and my team. The Makeover London problem was just too damaging for the site, we needed to give them a fair chance to clean their act up, but sadly the complaints continued.

Please be aware that ML will still have leads and will no doubt follow them up.

If you are unsure then call UKbride on 0800 112 3 112 and speak to Emily Brown (our free engagement photo shoot coordinator). We have 5,000 brides a month to keep happy, so this is why we want to test the scheme thoroughly before rolling it out to all our members!

I was one of the lucky ones, although I had a horrid experience with ML Cameron did sort it out for me pretty quickly after he joined here, but I am so glad you have dumped them and have found a better deal for the brides, what an amazing memory opportunity you are offering your newly engaged members! All Forum members who are interested in having a FREE ENGAGEMENT shoot, and are happy to pay a £50 deposit which will be refunded to you when you arrive at our selected photographers studio should email their interest to me (email below).

We can't guarantee that we get you a free shoot, but we won't take a deposit until we can!

@Aurora - yes we will cover the whole of the United Kingdom! Eventually.

@ Everyone - We are piloting all sorts of different schemes with regards to the Free Engagement Shoot, so pleased don't be surprised, if we have different deposits/no deposits, we just need to find out what works bests for all three parties; brides, photographers and of course little old UKbride too!

I got the email and got rung by someone called Emily Brown who said I'd got a free engagement photoshoot and that it was 100% free, no deposit required, so why is there a refund? She simply said it was free, all I had to do was ring back (I wanted to discuss it with my partner) and let her know if we were going to go ahead with it, then she'd set us up with a photographer and then we'd sort it out from there.

What is the refund for? Are we expected to buy the photos - if so, why are we not told about this when we get the photoshoot? And how much money are we expected to pay out for this?

Oh ok, so I don't have to pay any money out? It's just that I got worried because nobody mentioned a refund to me on the phone. I'll get back to Emily tomorrow - we just don't want to be scammed out of money since we're both on very tight budgets.

Okay so the pilot scheme has gone really well, we are now going to roll out the scheme to 60 photographers across the UK, starting with cities. If that all goes well then we will go to phase two where we will include 200 photographers on the scheme!

For all of this to work some of you guys (gals) will need to book the wedding photographers for your wedding. We will want a photo of the engagement photo (or boudoir or makeover), and we will need feedback too. The photographers couldn't stay on the scheme if no one ever booked a photographer, obviously you will only book if you like the photographer, are impressed with his photos and last but not least can afford their prices!

We will set up the 60 photographers throughout December and January and start setting up the free photoshoots in February!

For all brides who send me an email I will aim to get you your free photo shoot ASAP!

I had a phone call yesterday to say I won the Makeover London package. The guy would not email me any details, told me that I had to book now and that a 50 quid deposit was required. He was very pushy. I said, if I could not make it could I have the cash value - he refused and said he would pass the prize to another person! I feel duped completely, it was full of catches, this deposit, come to central london, no idea if a print was included. As a prize it would work out to be ridiculously expensive!

I still sadly havent had a call

Clarebella this is still in the early stages so before you get a call J and the team have to get a photographer near you on board!
Once thats done then they can call you!

Okay so here is our plan (after hours and hours of meetings)...

Free Engagement Shoot to all UKbride members (in all locations of the UK, so long as we have participating photographers in your area and you told us on joining UKbride that hadn't yet booked your photographer)! NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED!!!

We are also going to let ALL of our advertising Photographers opt in to this 'introduction' scheme free of charge too!!! This way we can supply thousands of brides to hundreds of photographers (meaning you shouldn't have to travel too far to see a participating photographer!

We do have to cover our costs as this is a HUGE task for us, so should any of our members choose to book one of our advertising photographers for their wedding we will charge the photographer 10% of the booking fee (meaning still NO CHARGE at all to our brides). Also no pressure for a photographer to book you for your wedding as UKbride won't charge to introduce our member to the photographer.

This should mean happy brides AND happy photographers.

We do want to operate a REVIEW scheme, so our members can help other members by their experience. So after the FREE Engagement shoot we will whiz you an email and ask you...

1 - how many stars would you rate the photographer (1 to 5 stars)

2 - Will you book this photographer for your Wedding? Yes, no or maybe!

3 - leave any comments (ie- Had a great time, nice guy, not too pushy, definitely going to book him, girls you should see him his great)

It's going to take us sometime to build the system and communicate to all 450 photographers, so please be patient, we're hoping will be ready for you all in Spring (sorry I can't be any more specific than that!)
