    Morning ladies!

I work shifts & my sleep pattern has died, hence the time of day!

Anyway I thought it would be really interesting to find out whether you've gone for a home or away wedding & why?

I was really torn, I wanted the big celebration at home but I wanted the sunshine & beautiful beaches of some serene location abroad. So I've gone for the big celebration at home, but I'm toying with the idea of having a blessing on honeymoon...a second miniature wedding! A lot of my family couldn't come with me abroad & I'd feel guilty if they didn't see me taking my vows so that has to be first.

So what are you doing, where & why? Xxx

    Thanks Lala,I'll do that :).

I'm the same as you Steffie but it's not that expensive to get the blessing on honeymoon so we're gonna go for that I think. My mum is trying to be super involved lol, but as I'm the only child I'm being nice at the moment! Xx

I would have loved a beach wedding in nice warm weather and lots of sunshine but we have decided on a home wedding as a couple of family members who mean everything to me wouldnt be able to come otherwise and although they said they would always come to party back ome it not the same plus they have contributed a lot aswell so it wouldnt be fair!! Although i think they are beginning to wish we would go abroad and do it quickly and a bit cheaper cos they want grandkids lol xx

We're having a UK wedding, for a few reasons.

First, although we don't have a huge guest-list, it is very important that everyone on our guest-list is there; and that likely wouldn't be possible with a destination wedding.

Second, because of my mum and MOH's work commitments, we have opted to marry during the summer holidays; going abroad, even short-haul, at this time of year, would have been very expensive for our guests, and I wouldn't have been comfortable with that.

Third, the type of wedding we want would not have been a huge amount cheaper abroad; so it seemed nonsensical to go abroad and cist our guests loads of money when we wouldn't be saving anything

Fourth, the destinations we like would be very hot in August; and having had photos done in the sun before, I can say it's not a very pleasant experience; I don't want to be sweating and red on my wedding day.

So, those are our reasons :-)

As a Christian, it's important to me to get married in my local church. I couldn't get married anywhere but a church.
Also, I would hate for our family and friends not to be able to see our wedding. And I think an abroad wedding would be more expensive that what we're spending anyway. Xxx

We went for home because I've always wanted to get married at Loch Lomond. It's such a beautiful part of Scotland. Plus it's not too far from us - only 45 mins drive.

I have in the past thought briefly about beach weddings but its not for me. I saw a few when I lived out in Gran Canaria and I was put off a wee bit. Mainly because I couldnt really get away with the outfit I've always wanted. Plus H2Bs mother would've gone mad as H2B is her only son.

Also I think I would find it incredibly stressful to organise abroad. I mean, I'm stressed already and everything is pretty much sorted so to have to fly somewhere would make me even more nervous.

Im really happy with all the choices we've made but the downside of the UK is the rubbish weather. Im praying so hard that it's not raining on our day, mind you we have it covered if it does. We just really want an outdoor ceremony.

Was never any question of doing it abroad, there was never really any question of doing it anywhere else other than the immediate vicinity of Sheffield (even though I'm from Norwich and H2b is from Liverpool and his mum lives in southern Spain!) Sheffield is our home (rubbish weather and all!), it wouldn't really feel like our wedding if it was anywhere else, and I'd feel uncomfortable getting married anywhere I didn't have that kind of emotional attatchment to. We're not having a massive wedding, but having our friends and family there is really important to us, and I could not ask them to pay that much to come to our wedding. As it is, all our families are having to travel anyway, we're relatively lucky Sheffield's pretty central to them all! And fancy the idea of getting all hot and sweaty on the day, I'm not very good with hot weather!

We wanted to get married on a cruise, but in the end I decided my mum (and others we are close to) being there and having a humanist ceremony were more important to me so we decided to get married here and we are hopefully going to renew our vows on a cruise around our 10 year anniversary of getting together. xx

We are going for home beacuse all of our family is very important to us and h2b has a bigger family than me and we do want them all at the ceremony. Personally it had never even entered my head to get married abroad!! lol... I have always known I would want to be married here with all my friends and family... can't deny I will look forward to a relaxing honeymoon in the sun afterwards though!

Been with my gorgeous 5years :)

We got married in the UK but away from home. A wedding abroad never really appealed to me as it just didn't seem 'traditional'. I didn't want a big wedding either so we only had close family. We're not religious so didn't want the whole church wedding either - and the registry office in Leeds is in the city centre with little photo opportunities so that wasn't an option.

We decided to get married at Gretna Green as it had the tradition and history, the minister wasn't the 'traditional' vicar, it was still away from home but both families could still attend and we could turn it into a full weekend away.

We didn't get the sun and heat, but we went to Malta (in August) three days after the wedding so got all the sun we needed then lol.

We got married abroad (Vegas) and would do it again in a heartbeat. It was perfect for us. I think that's the thing you need to remember; everyone's different and what suits one couple, won't necessarily be the perfect thing for another.
