Wow! I didnt realise how expensive it is to find somewhere within Europe to stay that isnt so pricey! We are hoping to move into a house next year so didnt want to spend much but everything so pricey if you dont drive. We decided to book a week in York, Yorkshire instead for a little minimoon after the wedding and hopefully next year we will be able to afford to go away abroad. We are staying in a beautiful 4* 4 poster Inn for the week and York looks fantastic, but everytime someone asks me where we are going i keep feeling the need to explain about going abroad next year and that this is just our mini-moon... people seem to find it strange if you dont go abroad! Anyone else having a UK honemoon/minimoon?

Its not strange at all, we're going to the Lakes for our honeymoon as its one of our favourite places to go, we couldn't afford a holiday abroad but are really happy with where we are going as its such a beautiful place so I wouldn't worry what people will think when you tell them. We've go so many great places in our country to visit that are just as good as abroad. WE are hoping to go to Florida eventually so are saving up for that over the next couple of years and that will be our special holiday then lol

We have not decided yet, depends on the budget nearer the time. But if we can't afford it we will be going somewhere in this country, I really wouldn't worry, we have some lovely places x x

We're having a honeymoon in the Lakes too, we're saving for a house sp had to cut back on everything. Theres loads of lush places around the UK. x

Just a few days because we're staying in the hotel in the sonic the hedgehog room (which is EXPENSIVE). If we were staying near by then it would be for longer.

We are going to the Isle of Wight. The wedding is costing emough for us and with a young family we just cant afford to do anything else. As long as we are together it doesn't matter where we are x

we're of that opinion cherry although we're having a cheap wedding too x I googled alton towers it looks fab. H2b is a wimp with rides hence a cabin in the Lakes.x

Ah, I see :) h2b and I are both adrenalin junkies and he has never been to Alton towers which is why we chose it.

We are going to a log cabin in York for 5 days. It's only come up to £300. Then next year we are going to have a well deserved family holiday!! xxx
