Hello all, Just having a difficult time planning my honeymoon, Were not going abroad so staying in the uk. Want a nice hotel with spa etc, been looking online and theyre all miles and miles away from where I live. Or way too expensive what they are. Is it worth coming home on the wedding night and spending it at home? My argument is that all my stuff is here already but i spend all my nights here want it to be special. So confused can anyone help? Where are you having your honeymoons? xxx

It might be nice to just go home to your own bed too :) Whatever is less stressful for you x

Your profile is locked so I can't see where you are! Where do you live?
We are either staying at our reception venue, if they can be a bit more reasonable, or a nice hotel close by. We probably won't be having our honeymoon until our first anniversary because of the cost

Our venue is giving us a room for free - perhaps you could try and negotiate a free or reduced rate room for the night with them? if its a hotel that is!
H2B is doing the honeymoon planning - why dont you delegate the task to him and then sit back and relax? tht is the tradition afterall ;)
we stayed in a hotel on the night but it wasnt a posh one as when we were looking we realised we wasnt gonna be there for long and really just wanted a bed for the night, the day after we flew out to tenerife beautiful weather and it was very chilled an relaxed just what we needed xx

Maybe if you can find something affordable you could ask others to contribute to your travel expenses getting there so you get both of what you want!
Me personally i wouldnt want to go home on my wedding night. We're renting a 2bed penthouse apartment for two nights before we go on our honeymoon :-) xXx

Our plan is to stay at our venue on the night (we have exclusive use of a 5* hotel, so can eat breakfast in the morning with all the guests who have stayed, which will be nice), and also the following night there; because we have exclusive use we can continue partying until whenever we want, so I think it'll probably be a late-ish night and we'll be too tired to properly enjoy the honeymoon suite lol.
We'll probably go on honeymoon a few days later.
I think spending your wedding night in a hotel is nice, even if it's just a cheap one; I think the change of scene makes it a bit more 'exciting' in a way. But if there's nowhere to stay within budget close-by, I'd probably go home if it's closer; remember you'll be really tired, so I doubt you'll want to travel miles just to sleep. That way you'll probably have a bit more flexibility on where to stay, as you should be able to travel a bit further.

We stayed in a lovely little cottage in the new forest for a romantic break last month..... it;s a really romantic amazing place to go, and the cottage was sooo romantic, had a log burning stove etc, and the owner is planning on getting a hot tub for it.... xxxx
