Hi, I just wanted peoples honest thoughts and opinions about travelling between eremony and reception. AS i live in the countryside reception venues are very few and far between. The ones that are close are either far far too expensive or already booked. I have found a few still fairly close by but am worried about making guests travel between ceremony and reception. What is, in your opinion, a fair travelling time and what would consider to be quite rude for someone to ask you to travel "so far" between. There is the option of picking guests up from the reception venue, taking them to the ceremony and back...however that doubles their travelling time so not sure if this is a better option or not :(
Many thanks in advance

I would say if you're asking people to make their own way then a travel time of up to 30 mins by car - if it's any longer then you may want to put on some transport for them? Our venues are only 4 miles apart so 10 mins in the car, but we're putting a bus on as so many of my family are from overseas so won't have cars etc :-)

I am having the same problem as I am getting married in my village church and then will need to travel to the venue after. I am thinking that no further than 30 minutes is really acceptable as taxi's would be too much for the guests who dont drive. However, if budget allows I am looking at putting on a coach from the reception venue to the church and back so that they will not have to worry about driving or taxis. I dont think they will mind the extra travel time for a wedding, and if they do then they probably werent close enough to us to have been invited in the first place! xxx

I think guests expect to travel between ceremony and reception if its not a civil ceremony all in one place like a hotel etc....but i agree with the 30 mins no further rule lol xxx
I am pretty set on a church ceremony in y local church. I have found a gorgeous, reasonable priced venue. By google maps it is 28mins drive..?! Not sure what to do about the transport...don't know what would be best?! x

see about pricing up a bus so at least you know if its an option, I also find google maps over estimates a bit but I might be wrong!

I would also say 30mins tops, i think anything more than that is too long.. your guests will get bored
