The shop I have bought my dress from said that they will pack it for me either in a box or in a cabin suitcase. Also another bridal shop that I went in said that for a fee they would pack the dress up for me in a box. Not sure where you are based but if your in the NW I can give you the name of the shop xx

while thinking about this just bear in mind that most airline will not have special rules for wedding dresses and if you want to take it in the cabin with you it must fitt into the overheard locker and will count as your hand luggage .... you are not allowed an extra piece bc it is your wedding dress

i'd go cabin suitcase and guard it with my life but as to whether it will go in or not i don't know, how many days are you going before the wedding? just thinking is it worth findin out if there is a bridal shop or dry cleaners that will press it for you when you get there and then let it hang for a few days
