My H2B and I are asking for holiday vouchers to put towards our (yet undecided) honeymoon and I wondered if anyone had any experience of this as we don't know whether to go for Thomson, Thomas Cook or Virgin...

I haven't got any experience of it but I do know that on the news last night they said that Thomas Cook are closing a lot of their shops as they are struggling, so I would maybe steer clear of there as a lot of companies who get in trouble stop accepting vouchers whether someone has paid for them or not xxx
Got together 14.02.2008
Got engaged 31.12.2010
Will become a Mrs on 30.08.2014 xxxxxx

Ria, Thomasc00k have closed some shops etc yes but they are not struggling financially. They are streamlining their business and are in a fine position financially.
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a
Wright wedding!
Mexico for our first anniversary

Hi RiaG!
I work for Thomas Cook - we are not in trouble financially. Well no worse than any other company is. It's just as Nina said - we are streamlining the business as the travel side of things are not doing too well as other parts of the business. All travel companies are in the same boat and to be honest I used to work from Thomson and got let go from there in 2011 as I was Cabin Crew.
In my opinion you should chose a company that will make sure you get the most for your vouchers.
Aww, thank you ladies, that's good to know x I'll have a look at some destinations and maybe take it from there x

What about a Honeymoon gift list, with K**ni or V**gin. I know they have a pay for our honeymoon list, but not sure if thats if you already have booked one. We're asking for money towards our honeymoon and popping a poem on our invite, something along the lines is all we want is for you to enjoy the day... but if I gift is what you want to give than contirbutions towards a honeymoon would be lovely. Friends of ours also did they same. :-) However, I do agree with the others choose a repitutable company.

Here's some information on protections that a reputable travel firm will have to protect you:
Good travel agents and tour operators will give you security through: - an Air Travel Organisers Licence (ATOL) - membership with an approved body such as ABTA; the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust (ABTOT); the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO); Bonded Coach Holidays (BCH); or the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO) - a suitable insurance policy - a protection scheme or trust fund for any payments you make in advance.
Many of the travel arrangements provided by these kinds of companies are protected in case of the financial failure of the travel company. You should, however, always ask your travel company if financial protection applies to your travel arrangements. If it doesn’t, the company may be able to offer suitable insurance to cover you.
If you have booked a ‘package’ holiday (usually a combination of transport and accommodation) in the UK then you will be protected by the Package Travel Regulations, which give consumers special protection where things go wrong or circumstances change in the period after the booking has been made.

We have gone through virgin - we actually booked our honeymoon. The main reason being we can create a debenhams gift list and use normal debenhams vouchers as our virgin is in a debenhams store!!! :-)
One thing I would say, I know people who have used co-op and their guests had real trouble getting hold of vouchers!
