    Hi :)
My fiancé and I could do with a little input - we are starting to think about the attendants for our wedding and are considering doing something a little different but are unsure how it would go down with our guests, especially the more traditional ones....

I am very close to my brother and would love for him to be a part of the bridal party as my 'man of honour', similarly my fiancé's best friend is his sister, so he would like her at his side as his 'best woman'.

We can't imagine not having these very important people involved in our special day, and would like to acknowledge their importance to each of us specifically, rather than just have them in with the groomsmen or bridesmaids...what does everyone think about them being in roles traditionally given to the opposite sex?

I'm having a ushermaid lol Basically H2B has 6 nieces and nephews who will be involved in the day and with the oldest being 21 and the next ages 10, 8 (twins) 5 and 4 so the wedding party is already pretty full ! He has a best man and I have my maid of honour but we didn't want another bridesmaid so I made the role of ushermaid who does some of the usher jobs yet help the MOH when organising hen etc

I think it's a brilliant idea! It is your day to celebrate your love and to acknowledge those who are special to you. Do what will feel special to you, don't worry about tradition! I keep being told to have a 'hen night', but considering 90% of my closest friends are guys I don't see the point of a traditional hen night if most of the people I would want to celebrate with can't be there.
Besides, remember that the day should be a celebration. Have fun with it! Tradition can be lovely but, if it's not 100% what you are happy with, then sticking to every tradition can start to feel a little bit stuffy and restricting.

It's up to you entirely. It's a lovely touch, you'll just have to consider exactly what roles they play. For example will your brother be able to share in the dress shopping and hair trials and that kind of thing? You'll need to create a role around him. You'll also have to think about the hen and stags, maybe you want to make them mixed gender or have a joint do.

We've done the more expected thing of H2B's sister as a bridesmaid and my brothers as ushers, as that works well for us and includes them. H2B has a brother and best mate sharing best man, and as his sister is severely disabled being pushed in as part of the bridal procession is much better for her than sitting at the front with H2B, where she can't do anything. My brothers were groomsmen for each other, and ushering suits them much more than processing in, plus they'd have no idea what was needed.

I think it's a lovely idea - everyone is different and families can be so dynamic and complex these days.. it's hard to stick to 'tradition' even if you wanted to! Anything goes these days, as long as you have your day exactly how you want it then that's all that matters :) xx

Hi guys ... just wanted an opinion

I have 3 sisters, oldest one had me as her bridesmaid. other 2 are not yet married. H2B has one sister. I would like to include them all in my bridal party along with a friend as my maid of honour. However this will lead to a big bridal party :(
I was thinking of having my friend, H2B sister and my little sister as bridesmaids , as i am not very close to the middle one. I mean we talk and stuff but wouldnt hang out or anything. My oldest sister has a daughter and son and i am planning on asking them to be my flower girl and pageboy.

I am however worried that my 2 sisters will be hurt and very upset with this decision. Any suggestions ?

Deffo agree with everyone to do it :) I'm having a bridal crew, 5 men and 5 women, all who have a role to play , i.e. meet and greet, music, video, e.t.c and one of my friends is conducting the ceremony , which is going to be hilarious ! Its good to not be a sheep and follow what everyone else does because of tradition , make your own traditions I say :)
