As as the title suggests we are having four weeks travelling the East Coast of America in an RV. Absolute trip of a lifetime for us. We are not the sort of peopke to lie on a beach for two weeks! Will probably start in Maine and finish in Miami.

    1. Has anybody done this?
    2. Has anybody driven an RV?
    3. Anybody been to any destinations in East America? New York, Washington, N/S Carolina, Florida?

Any help/advice/routes/suggestions really appreciated as this will take some organising.

My advice is budget, budget, budget. Although petrol is cheaper in the US, RVs guzzle it. I've never traveled on the East Coast so no specific advice there.

Luckily we have at least £4000 for our honeymoon! Almost as much as we are spending on our wedding. We figured the wedding is one day but they honeymoon is 4 weeks!

    The flights will be £1000
    RV rental £1500
That leaves £1500 for spending money.

And we are asking for dollars as a wedding present as well x

There are apps & websites to find the cheapest petrol in an area. What kind of RV are you thinking of renting and what time of year are you planning on traveling?

I think you'll need more spending money, we're taking approx £2200 just for a 2week hol to the USA!

I've only been to Florida which is amazing; like Kel said I think you could do with some more spending money as the US isn't cheap but good luck :)

I love Tr1p Adv1s0r and always look on that before going to places.
They have a City Guide App, which is fab and doesnt require Internet connection.
This is a great place to start for planning your trip.
Pick out lots of places that will be free to visit to help out your budget.

As for must see places I could say Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building for New York but you may not agree??

Make sure you plan your route and do a intinery for each day.
I went to the US for a month and each day was planned and the intinery kept too.

Make sure you book your campsites.
E mail the sites in advance and tell them you're on your Honeymoon!!!(We went to Italy. Hubby e mailed the hotel in Bologna and they upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge!!!!)
They may well give you a particularly nice pitch or just make an extra special fuss of you??!!

    E mail tourist boards??
We did before going to Rimini, Italy and they sent us free books!!

I suppose I'm saying research, research, research!!!

And, we spent more on our Honeymoon than we did our Wedding, like you say , it's only for one day!!
The Wedding will go without a hitch no matter how little you spend but a Honeymoon is where your Marriage really begins!!!

    Have a great time!!!!

    :-)
