Would it be odd if I only have four people on my top table? Both our sets of parents are with different partners now and both my dad and step dad are both invited...can't have everyone sat there! Just thinking it might look a bit odd?!

lots of people have the extended step parents etc on top tables now, but its up to you on how your family dynamic is as to whether they will get along, and who you want up there x

Not at all, have whoever you want. We are having a 2 person sweetheart table as my parents are divorced and it gets very complicated!

It might look a little strange, like somethings missing and not quite right. Who will be sitting at the top table with you?
Have you thought about having a sweetheart table instead?

It won't be odd. All weddings are different, and because they are personalised they are all unique. Do what you feel happy doing. We had 6 people, but I know people have more or less x

I'm not doing a top table I don't think, just all round. Just because the OH doesn't speak to his family so don't think any will be coming and my parents are both married to other people now, plus one of my maids has a husband and kids coming and we have our children so seems silly to split us all up for the sake of a top table!

I think it's all the little individual and irregular choices that make a wedding unique and personal. There is no need at all to conform to the cookie cutter wedding unless that is what you want!

You can have whatever you want :) both sets of our parents are divorced, with 3 of them re-married/re-partnered, and we are not having the step parents on the top table, just our parents. It's not as if our step parents will be on their own or uncomfortable as they will all be sat with family too. x

Sorry can I ask what a sweetheart table is?

I've been debating whether to have a top table or not, I dont know if I like the idea of being 'on show' (I know its my wedding and in general most of the day we will in fact be on show lol), but I don't want people watching me eat. lol not that they really will, but I am liking the idea more now of just sitting at a regular round table so I can see and talk to our friends/family better.

A sweetheart table is where the bride and groom just sit at the 'top table' x

Thanks I just googled it there!! That's a lovely idea and more intimate for the bride and groom.
