    hi ladies,

just wondering if anyone else is thinking of scrapping the top table idea. me and h2b have a few politics with regards to who to sit where etc so we decided no top table to make it easier on us. even tho parents agreed to bite tongues on the day didn't want to upset too many people and tbh i can't be bothered with the whole speeches since i'll be embarrassed to high heaven if my dad give's one everyone would get to know my nickname that i've hidden from them for many many years lol xx

we are having a sweetheart table instead of a top table as our top table would be huge. So instead we are getting each set of parents to 'host' a table and the same with b/maids etc. We are still having speeches etc but people will jsut stand up at their table instead.

Weve decided against having a top table as both sets of parents have divorced re married etc. And as were only having a cold / hot buffet also its less formal.

14th August 2010 Engaged to Mister Matthews <3
    17th August 2012 I'll be Missus Matthews <3

my parents separated and moved on and that's the main reason for all this, table plan is going to be a right mere making sure that certain people are no where near each other etc but i've told them they have to be civil towards each other because it's my day not there's x

I'm not having a top table either but going on a round table with everyone else. I don't like the though of sticking out like a sore thumb with people looking at me. Admittedly the table we are sat on also has the h2b's family but as I don't have one that doesn't cause a problem. The bridesmaids and pageboys etc are sat with their parents and my MOH is sat with her partner and dad. It works out really well for us.

We're having round tables, but not a traditional top table, they'll be me and h2b and then my BM's the BM and usher and maybe a groomsman...if h2b decides on having one! Then parents will be separate and my brother and his wife and my SIL to be and her boyfriend will be sat together so that they don't have to pick a parent either!! Then we're going to have a table with the partners of the BM's etc on a small table too.

    It's a complicated affair!!

I like the round table idea too. I often think the top table have less fun as there are fewer people to chat too...especially for those sitting on the ends!

No top table for us - just lots of round table. But no seating plan, people can sit where they want, so we'll probably just mingle with everyone. There'll be a lot of family on both sides that we haven't met before (i.e. I've never met his extended family and vice versa), so will be nice to round and chat. Plus we're doing it like Abi4tomboy - disco and buffet and no speeches :-)

We will be having an alternative top table. My parents are divoced and both in new relationships. Althought they would all be fine sitting together my table would be huge. H2B mother has sadly died and his dad in a new relationship. So that might be abit odd for H2B as his father hasnt been with his partner very long.

Sooooo we are having top table with us on it, adult bridesmaid and adult usher/best man. Thats it.

The rest will be all on sep tables. Luckily we have enough tables to make it work. So my mum & partner on one, dad and wife on another. H2B dad & partner on another. We should cope-lol-xx

    We-are-having-our-'top-table'-the-same-as-the-other-tables,just-round,and-in-the-middle-of-the-room,with-the-other-tables-around-us-so-it's-easier-for-us-to-see-all-our-guests,and-most-importantly,we-are-able-to-chat-with-the-others-at-our-table.
    I've-never-really-understood-how-the-bride-and-groom-can-chat-with-their-bridesmaids/bestman-when-the-tables-are-so-long!!!!!

we were going to have a toptable, but if we do that table will have to be moved away for the disco to set up later, so i am thinking that perhaps we will just have a round table in the middle so that we wont have to move later on in the night :) x
