Hey girls, we still have 17 months to go till our wedding but so far we've already
    -paid the venue deposit
-paid the dress deposit and it's ordered
-bought and stared paying for my ring
-had our free engagement shoot with our photographer
-I've made the save the date cards

Have I already done too much, should I take my time with planning or just get everything sorted? I'm also debating paying the photographer deposit this week... What do you think? Xxx

I think things such as venue and photographer def need to be done in advance-ours was all done around the same time in advance. If you leave it any later then you may miss out on the ones you want. Also means you don't get a huge bill all at once if you start paying as soon as possible. Other good thing is that the cost of metals are increasing at a huge rate so paying for your rings in advance means you will be paying less in the long run xx

Wow lol you have been busy!
i am doing some things now and some later, i'm trying to lose weight so i won't be getting my dress till next year. We have already put a deposit down on the venue so we can pay it off here and there and we got our flowers because we got them for a really good price.

Do what ever you want, when you want its your wedding :) x

We have either 30 months, or 20 months to go lol. So far, we've booked the reception venue and paid the deposit, and chosen menus; made a provisional booking of the ceremony venue (undecided yet whether to have it at the reception venue or someone else); and I've bought my shoes and dress :-s

I'll know by the end of April whether we can marry this summer, or whether we'll have to wait until 2014 (the original plan). If we bring the wedding forward, we'll then be booking the photographer, and deciding on the other major things (cake; flowers; music; etc). If not, we'll probably book all those things next Autumn.

People probably think we're crazy, but it's nice to have a lot of it done way in advance, as then we can relax :-)

We get married in Dec 2013 and have so far paid the deposit on the venue, paid the photographer deposit, booked the registrar. I am ordering my dress next month and I have also bought most of the bits for the tablecentres.
The DJ has also been pre-booked as he is very popular and he is a family friend. We have also booked some other evening entertaiment.
Due to money being tight we are finding it easier to spread the costs and buy bits and pieces now so we know for definate how much we have to pay in total. Plus I am always over organized and wanted to enjoy those last few days before the wedding without running around like a headless chicken sorting out last minute details

Yeah it's much less stress, everyone I tell keeps saying how it's ages away and I'm doing it too quick but I'm an organised person anyways so I think I prefer it this way! I'm already stressing that I have to wait till next summer to get the bridesmaids dresses as I've only got 1 out of 3 that lives close! One is in Newcastle and the other is in Australia!! Xx

Your not the only one! Just think the more organised the less stressfull it will be! I've bought my wedding dress, rings, booked chair covers, booked the venue, ordered the save the date cards & invites and also some wedding favours! Looking into photographers now myself too.

The best thing is if you book now, you know exactly how much your having to pay out closer to the time and can plan towards it.

    I've got 19 months and I've:

Paid venue deposit (ceremony & reception)
    Paid make-up deposit
    Paid dj deposit
    paid chair cover deposit
    Booked meeting with photographer

I think for certain things you can't be too organised, especially if you want the best supplier and need to secure your date. I haven't even started looking at dresses yet and as much as I think I've got a colour theme, it may change. Once I've booked hairdressers and a photographer I will relax and have a wedding free few months probably resume planning around June time. x

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

Definitely not too soon at all hun, if you book things now you can normally get them for this years prices so its also money saving too! I initially wasnt getting married until 2013 but i got loads done and now that we have moved the date to next year it means we dont have so much to do! Forward planning is always best! xx

its so nice to come on here and talk to other people with similar thoughts and feelings. everyone keeps teasing me because ive got loads of bits done but its just so much fun you get so caught up in it. im going too see my hairdresser and make up lady on fri to talk about plans for the day and cant wait! think its also true about the money issue as were trying to pay for it as much as we can, starting to pay for things now means we wont have any nasty shocks closer to the time xx

We're paying the deposit on our venue this weekend, and will be booking the registrar as soon as able, a year before our date. We have our heart set on this venue so although its still 16 months away, we want to ensure that we secure it. Anything else we are going to start doing in the new year, when we can say that we're getting married next year! Paying as we go means it doesnt feel so expensive!

I don't think it's too soon, we are getting married in 19 months and we booked our church and venue in october and this month we have sorted:
    PHotographer
    Videograpgher
    Day entertainment
    Hair & make up
STD (going out with xmas cards)
    cake
and we are in the process of finalising the evening entertainment.
I want the lead up to the wedding to be as stressfree as possible and as several ladies ahve said there are so many stories of the one that got away!

i dont think its too soon either, iv still got 18 months and we have
    paid venue deposit
paid in full for both our rings
    paid photographer deposit
    paid dress deposit
booked my venue decor but deposit's not due for another 6 weeks
booked the piper but again cant pay deposit until i have recieved all the paperwork from him.
and im in the process of organising the dj, looking for bm & flower girl dresses and trying to find a pipe band for some pre wedding meal entertainment.
I would rather have everything booked early that way i know exactly how much i need to save up and im more likely to actually save xx

The only thing I would be worried about with sending std's with christmas cards is the amount of christmas mail that goes missing!!
Ive had a family member who has told me about a card they sent and ive still never received and the same vise verser!

If you do send please make sure you send recorded/special delievery so they get there!

definately not too much! i think the sooner you get the major things out of the way and sorted then the more time you have to yourself and with your h2b rather than constantly stressing about wedding stuff, then you have time to think about the finer things and what needs tweaking here and there - thats my plan anyways xx
