I still want the live band (it would be 2 x 1 hour sets) but I'm thinking an hour of a DJ then an hours set by the band, karaoke for an hour, then the live band for an hour. Would this be too many things going on at the evening do or not?

Hmm yeah it does seem a bit busy, I really dont want to let go of the band lol but H2B wants karaoke and we're going to need some kind of background music when the band isn't playing. Decisions decisions....lol

You could do the karaoke in with the dj but they people wont really dance much ill keep thinking though

Live band karaoke might work. So they can be there for a couple of hours and do live band/karaoke intermittently. Or you can have the DJ do the karaoke as greyarea says.
I went to a wedding that had karaoke, most people sing the classics that everyone knows and that the dj would probably have played so the other guests still danced and had fun...

I ran the idea past H2B and he thought it would be too much going on so we're having the DJ/Karaoke. I gave my CMB the job of throwing the live band shortlist into the bin lol

I know karaoke is fun but after speaking to our family about it they were unanimous that you just cant beat a live band. The atmosphere will be absolutely amazing so what ever you do decide dont cut the band. It will really finish off your day and really get your guests up on that dance floor and give a great party atmosphere which im sure is what everyone wants... a dance floor packed with guests having a great time.
