    Hey all

I really can't decide what to do - we ony got engaged in July and I was so excited that we started to look at venues straight away. We've found a venue that we like and had hoped to get married in September next year. The only available day they have in Autumn 2013 is 18th October so here's the problems:

Father In Law to be thinks that isn't enough time to plan, and we are settling for second best?
Mother In Law to be thinks we should wait until spring 2014 so the parents have longer to save so they can contribute more towards the cost (between us and our 3 sets of parents we have the cost covered already) i dont want to spend extra money for the sake of it
Will waiting the extra month make that much difference to the weather?

I'm just too darn excited to get married i dont want to wait another six months, yet i dont want to regret rushing into it either

    Any advice?

oh yeah and i provisionally booked the date already because i didnt want it to get snapped up.

A girl from work is also planning to get married on that date but she's going to Vegas with her family - its already arkward as she got engaged before me and hasnt got the ring yet!

I'm learning so much about wedding etiquette ha ha

Do what ever you want to do hun, it is yours and h2b's wedding day, no one elses!
Personally I don't think that the weather changes that much between september and october, it is only a month!
As for planning, you have plenty of time! If you marry in October next year you still have over a year to plan, some ladies do it in 6 months, and the blokes on dont tell the bride do it in 3 weeks, so a year is more than enough time!
Go with what you want, you will regret it if you dont do it your way xxx

How about stealing the date from my work colleague though? is that just plain rude of me?

Its more that im stealing her thunder...
She got engaged in June and said at the time they were saving for an engagement ring,
then i went on holiday in July and came back with a gorgeous engagement ring :-) (complete surprise to everyone)
She was talking in the office and said that they were planning on 18th October but couldn't book as they had to save first.
Now i'm getting in there before her and getting mine booked.

I've already peed 2 other ladies off at work as they are both waiting for there partners to pop the question - but i cant be blamed for that ha ha

I can see your point then, and if you went to go for September it would look even worse. Could you look at another date in October?

Its the only date they have available from August- December :-(
Maybe i'll just wait until spring 2014 as i dont want it to become a competition over who has the best dress etc.

Hmm, my thoughts are if they can't afford a ring or to book their venue then they're rushing their engagement, what if it gets to 6 months from now and they end up not booking that date? then you've missed out on a date you wanted for nothing. Especially if they turn out to be one of those couples that pick a date every year but never get married cause they can't afford it. She's only a work colleague anyway, least she's not a close friend or family member!

Definitly try talking to her, if thats the only date available then go for it. Its not like you've got the same guests, venue, dress etc. You've got the money and the ring so Id say book xx

Plus it doesn't have to be a competition, you could help each other plan, share ideas and such :)

You book it for when you want it. If you want to do that date then do it. We only actually started to book venues and pay deposits etc in February of this year so you have time!

True, you could have completely different ideas about your weddings, planning together might be fun! Definitly speak to her though make sure she knows the reasoning for your date x
